Front page news in this weeks Negros Chronicle, bullet proof vests donated to the city PNP last November have never been issued yet and are now missing. Unbelievable but true, The vests were never handed out as a donation paper was not signed by the doner (he is in the US) Nobody can verify if there were 6,10 or 14 vests worth approx $300,000. The front page photo shows at least 5 vests being handed to the previous mayor with 2 PNP present by lee plaza owners wife (she could not sign the donation paper ??) The vests were imported from the US (customs cannot verify the amount of vests ??) As this is life saving equipment i find this situation very sad, IF they have been stolen in my view it is on a par with stealing equipment from an ambulance or lifeboat and the people concerned are scum. Also what incentive does this give for future donations. Pinoy pride, very sad.
Can you supply a link, because the link I found on google http://www.google.com/topic/26066-open-for-business/ says it was definitely 6 vests that went missing, but that is old news from back in July. Do you have new info?
Those bullet proof vests are missing for good reason.....they're is no such thing as a bullet "proof" vest. And 6 kevlar vests worth $300,000....USD?! BS. Maybe pesos...and that's if you are including front and back plates along with a helmet.
