Hey Norm, If you have changed any settings i would advise you to do a factory reset.

1-Connect your computer to the modem using wireless or cable connection.
2-to access the settings page of the B683, type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your browser and hit enter. enter user name as admin and then password admin.
3-once you are on the settings page just do the quick setup or find where to create a profile use the right APN, you shouldn't have to worry about a pin number for the sim just leave it blank. Save the profile and you should be good to go.

The password for connecting to the router with wireless should be on the bottom of the modem or on a paper in the modem box.

Tjhese are the APN's that i know of.

    Globe APN Settings
    Prepaid APN: http.globe.com.ph
    Postpaid APN: internet.globe.com.ph

    Smart Bro APN Settings
    Prepaid APN: smartbro
    Postpaid APN: smartbro

Smart Buddy and Smart Gold APN Settings: internet

Sun Cellular APN Settings for Prepaid
    APN static: minternet
    Authentication: PAP
    IP address: dynamic

Sun Cellular APN Settings for Postpaid
    APN static: fbband
    Authentication: PAP
    IP address: dynamic

It is simple thing to create a profile if you know what your doing, but if you don't it can be a nightmare. I might recommend that you take your modem to the place you purchased your sim to get the tec to set it up for you for the sake of a couple hundred pesos just to get you started. after that you can do research on the internet to learn how to do things for yourself.

For example if you are using prepaid you will have to put a load on every month so it would be to your benefit to learn how to validate the load every month by using the text messaging built into the modem. You could also take your sim out and put it in your phone to validate the load there providing you phone uses a full sized sim. If you can't do this you will have to go to the computer shop every month to have them do this for you.

Good luck Norm hope this helps you out.
