I have my doubts of it will work also, still charging atm but middle two cells don't look good. This method will not work if there is a short which I think must be the problem.
I do know a few people who have tried this method on very old batteries with sucsess.
I will check in the car manuel which amp battery should be in there but since I've had it,it always had a 70 amp. Supposedly these moto lite batteries are tropicalised also.

If your two center cells are not bubbling by now, I think you are correct that they are shorted out. I also like to go higher on the cranking amps and reserve capacity if I can when replacing a battery.

I actually have two batteries on my toyota, either one of which would start and operate the car by itself. I have an 85 amp breaker to isolate the second battery if need be.

If you have to get a new battery, I would recommend without hesitation the Goodyear place across from the Ceres terminal.
Several years ago they installed a new battery in my car. When they checked out the new install they determined the real problem was my fanbelt. They tightened the fanbelt, reinstalled the old battery, refunded my money and sent me on my way. No charge.
When I need tires etc that's where I go. Some places here do know how to get business.

I fully agree, this tyre center gives to their customers the treatment you will come back again and again. In the past when I had a flat tyre and go there to let it vulcanize that tyre got flat again after a week or so same place when checked out. Without any additional cost the tyre was vulcanized again. Also for aligning the wheels they have the right equipment to perform against low cost.

I haven't needed anything from them for a long time so I'm not sure.
Their outlook on customer service probably has not changed.
