    Dear all,

am living in Sipalay, and need occasionally to travel to Manila and other places. As the Bacolod airport moved northwards to Silay, I am thinking of using Dumaguete airport more often (now about 1 hour less diving each way).

However, I don't know where I can safely park my car in Daumaguete? Are there parking lots at the airport? Or is there a private car park I might use paying a fee?

    Thanks a lot
    Monsoonhunter

Good day monsoorhunter! I'm o sure about this but I think there might be one at the back of Cang's Department store, or the one beside Food.net restaurant. Or, what if you'll park in the underground parking lot of bethel. It might work.. and it could save you money for parking fee.. :D

It would be better if you could arrange a driver to take you and retrieve you (perhaps with your own car). Possibly less money, and definately safer.

    Car parking Dumaguete

You are not allowed to park your car in the airport of Dumaguete. There are several small pay carparkings in Dumaguete City, which are watched during the daytime. You could ask, if it is ok to leave your car there for a few days. Nobody will watch it in the night then, but I really don`t think that is a major problem, unless perhaps you drive a ferrari or porsche.

You could also just take the chance and park your car on the street in a place, where this is legal. Frankly, I would not feel particularly nerveous about that, since I have never heard of anyone, who had their car stolen in Dumaguete. Obviously however, do not leave anything inside the car, that might tempt burglers.

If you spend a night in a hotel in Dumaguete, then why not ask, if you can leave your car in their car-park until you return.

Finally Super Lee Place has a parking house for their customers. I don`t know, if they will accept, that you park there for several days, but if they do, this place is safe and dry 24 hours pr. day. The fee is 10 peso pr. hour, but first two hours are free, if you have a purchase of 200 peso or more.

Maybe you could park it at a police station. That should be safe!

    Thanks!

    Dear all,

thanks a lot for your help. From my colleagues, I know that the hotels like Bethel are not willing to let you park if you haven't booked a room. With other hotels the same.

Coming from Sipalay with an own driver is unfortunately not an option for me.

I am not too much worried to use public parking in Dumaguete, there is just a very minimal risk, but still... Will check out the car park of the mall, and the daytime parking areas as well as the area around the police station next time I will be in Dumaguete, sounds quite good.

OK, when using the ferry to Bohol for some days a few months ago, I parked my car along the wall at Siliman University, which was very fine. Unfortunately, maybe due to lack of space, Dumaguete Harbor Authority is obviously not offering guarded parking (just like in San Carlos or Bacolod harbor area).

Thanks to all of you, and additional ideas are very much welcome!

    Greetings from Sipalay
    Stefan

    Private driver

    You are welcome

As for the suggestion of RHB to let a driver bring you to Dumaguete and pick you up again, I think this would be quite a waste of money and gasoline, as - just for starters - the car would then need to make the Sipalay-Dumaguete trip twice.

If one is not comfortable to park a private car near a pier or an airport, much better then to just go with a bus, or if shorter distances, a taxi or a tricycle. There are plenty of busses between Sipalay and Dumaguete, so no need to hire a private driver just for that.

Well I was supposing if one has a house in Sipalay, owns a car, and will fly off in an airplane, money might not be an issue. Better then to take a jeepney or bus to town, stay over and don't worry about your car.

    car parking Dumaguete

I would be interested in doing a deal. I have undercover secure parking at my house 8 minutes from the airport. I can pick up and drop off.
