    New Philippines return/onward eTicket requirements

    Last Updated: 3 July 2012

Passengers travelling to the Philippines must hold a printed copy of the return/onward eTicket. Passengers who fail to supply a printed copy of the eTicket will be refused entry to the Republic of The Philippines.

Please note, ticket image presented on an electronic device (such as laptop or smart phone) will NOT be accepted.

source : Travel Advisories, International Airline Travel - Cathay Pacific

While the regulation in general is not new, it is new that they require the printed version

Not sure if on topic, but last time I flew to PI(last March)I only had a one-way from JFK on EVA airlines. They almost balked at allowing me to board, until I presented my ACR card showing probationary permanent resident. Then three personnel had to look at it.....

Ministry of Tourism and the Bureau of Immigration. Two government empires with no joined up thinking.

The last time, I flew on Cathay Pacific from the U.S. to the Philippines via Hong Kong, they required an onward ticket to look at. No onward ticket, and no boarding pass, and that was 2 + years ago.

many airline networks show if you have an onward ticket, even it is with another airline, so they don't need to ask you, if they are willing to make a few clicks.

a member on another board just reported that the immigration in Manila asked for his onward ticket.

    OK guys,

you succeeded to scare the sh.t out of me since my asawa and I intend to fly to Manila with one-way tickets only in nov. We have no intention returning to drab an dreary Europe in any way, shape or form and thus we see no need to purchase a return ticket. However, the above info seems to indicate that we should purchase them anyway even if we will not use the return leg as booked (a waste of money in my view, but who cares...). I'm just wondering: were the travellers that were asked/required to produce a return or onward ticket balikbayans or travelling alone and thus simply tourists? As I understand, a balikbayan gets a 1-year visa upon entry and thus a return ticket would be useless unless someone plans his/her life that far in advance.......
Any suggestions or pointers would be appreciated (and reimbursed in SMB's at a later date).

Its best to check with the airline 1st. Its the airline that will prevent You from boarding. They fear having to return You to Your country of origin and possible fine if You are not permitted entry.

    It is completely useless.
So go with the flow and buy a "throw away ticket"as cheap as possible.
Right now, a throw away ticket Clark-Kota Kinabalu from Air Asia cost 540 Php (all inn), departure in 2013.
