You were obviously NOT on an air con Ceres bus. The AC Ceres busses are quite comfortable, and the drivers usually are good, courteous, and careful drivers with many years of experience as they get paid on salary, not commission as the non AC bus drivers do.

You obviously have not experienced Philippine busses at their best. Try taking the Philippine rabbit from Cebu to Tabuelan, or some worse routes, a few times.

Having traveled on many hundreds of Philippine busses, anything between Cebu and Oslob is small potatoes.

Ah, ok. To elaborate, if we are traveling to Cebu, we usually have little luggage. We take the fast craft from Sibulan to Lilo-an, and the bus to Cebu. The total cost including jeepney, ferry, and bus is roughly P240 each with the recent price increase.

However, if we are coming back with luggage (we always come back with more than we leave with) we sometimes will take the Duma bus all the way back. The cost is roughly P270 each or so, and adds at least an hour or so to the travel time.

So to us it depends on what we are carrying for luggage, and how we feel at the time. If we are traveling light, it saves us at least an hour and a few pesos to ride the fast craft. If we have a lot of luggage, we ride it all the way adding an hour+ and pay a few pesos more for convenience.

There is also a few other factors, such as the Cebu/Duma bus leaves Cebu on a regular schedule, (everry 2 hours?) and the other busses leave whenever they are full (every half hour?). Compound that with the simple fact that one can ride the Cebu/Duma bus from Cebu to Lilo-an and get on the fast craft and there are many different options available.

We play each trip individually, according to the circumstances at the time. usually though, we find ourselves taking the fast craft Lilo-an/Sibulan.

there is also a pumpboat from sibulan to liloan connecting with v-hire vans.... I prefer the pumpboats to the fastcraft but prefer the air-con ceres to a van... the fast craft and pumpboat terminals are about 400 meters away from each other in liloan village and both leave and arrive at the same terminal on the sibulan side

I can give you a rough estiment Since I have used the bus between Cebu buss south terminal to Dalaguete (about 40% way to Dumaguete. The ride to dalaguete takes about 2 hrs - 2.15 hrs In aircon bus I payed 110 php. Non aircon is cheaper ofcourse. So my guess is that taking the bus all the way would be around 5-600 php at the most in aircon bus.

Think the ride will take about 5 perhaps even 6 hrs with all the stops along the way. The new busses are nice to ride in and by philippino standards verry good.

The non aircon busses is more of an adventure to ride in.. Don'tr be suprised if people have chicken or other animals with them on the bus.

Bring water and food.. or stop and eat and take the next bus south.

If you take the Dumaguete/Cebu bus, the total bus fare is P200 + boat fare of P70. Total trip time usually 5-6 hours.

If you take the fast craft from Sibulan to Santander, then the AC bus to Cebu the total bus fare is P177, boat fare is 62 including terminal fee. Total trip time is usually 4-5 hours.

Sorry, I can't help you on the V-hires, no way I would ride one.
