Yes, I'm infuriated by this outrageous visa extortion and I'm not affected! This toxic government has a shelf-life of a very few months, but the damage they do to Australians is just horrendous - while they nurture the blow-ins....Gone soon..but the bad news is the charges may stay...few governments ever reduce charges..My One Nation would...but we have ethics and distinguish right from wrong. Anyway, I haven't thoroughly read all the posts on this thread but you seem pretty well committed on the path you're on. Have you been to Dumaguete to meet your intended bride in person? Only reasons I ask is...you'll really - if you go there (or mostly - things are never all that they seem in the islands) know if she's the right one...and it gives you a certain amount of leverage for banging on the door of your MP to try and get some financial exemption because of your condition and pension. I'd even consider a Current Affair or similar to get the issue out there. But first you need to go there and confirm there are no impediments..(if the TV crew looks into it - you don't want this going pear-shaped) .i.e. for example....a husband, three kids, career scammer, etc. These things do happen - and happen a lot in 'paradise'. Get Pointman in on it if you like....hopefully still Cebu based (long story) so it shouldn't cost too much...and get the peace of mind and security from embarassment. Anyway, good luck and I hope it works out well. Like I say don't know the circumstances but if all goes well and she does come to Oz...the training and educational opportunities in this wonderful country are limitless...and she can provide a good salary to help out. I personally recommend Aged Care...quick qualifications, the industry loves Filipinas since they are culturally equipped with the right attitudes towards old people and good work ethic - pay is ordinary, but the penalty rates on nights and weekends are good and the fortnightly check is very reasonable. My wife has been here since the early 80's....minus several years we lived in Saudi...and has two additional degrees from her studies here in Perth with an interesting career progression (including Aged Care) and is now a d*mn good nurse at Joondalup hospital.

I am 99.9% sure mate, after 5+ years of this treading warily I have had more than my fair share of questionable candidates and am reasonably confident... *touch wood*

I know I need to prove I can support them when they come here, but Melinda should be entitled to work and *maybe* my Daughter can put her hand up for offering part-time/ full-time employment with her Cleaning Business here. I have a Son who maybe able to put his hand up for the $5,000 surety (Sponsor?) I am still hazy on exactly what is needed for us to be together here in Australia.

I am told I have to pay to Centrelink in case she costs the Tax Payer. She wants to work here and support me, but I (as a man) feel strange to this concept and am hoping that her work will be enough to supplement her to live here with her Daughter while I do the rest from my Disability Pension. I worked hard when I was younger and worked for ten years with a broken leg before having to admit defeat, so I am not ashamed to claim the Pension, I just wish I would still work to keep me from going stir crazy here!

My main drama at present is speaking to the Immigration Agents regards what is required to bring them here. Speaking to several Registered Agents (Immigration not Date Site Agents) as when I ask for a lay out of what costs are involved, what steps do I need to take, what are the expected costs so I can prepare myself and save the necessary funds, I am told; "Pay us our $4,500.00 Fee plus $2060.00 for government Taxes and we will give you Paperwork that needs to be filled in and filed while you are there, then Marry her, come back, and we will go to the next step"... O-|

Sorry I want to see the entire game plan laid out for me including total costs as I NEED to save that money and want to have it before I begin as there is nothing more disheartening then the feeling of utter hopelessness if you are years from achieving your goals... I am not sure if I am going about this in the wrong way but I do not like surprises...

Funny Brian, just reading through some old Posts and I read your reply to me last year, things are doing a complete U-Turn and this is exactly what we are talking about doing... I have explained to her how anak (now aged 6) will most likely get caught up in the Aboriginal or Samoan Gang Culture in the High Schools here, she did not like that, I have explained that I am considered poor here, and most likely things wouldn't be any better if I lived there due to having to buy my Pain Medication without a subsidy etc, and she wants to work and SUPPORT ME as long as I am able to go there, Pension or no Pension, although I do not think the Authorities would like that one bit if I was being supported by one of their own instead of me being the one bringing the money into the Country... :D lol
