Me and my wife will be arriving in Dumaguete April 29. We will need to purchase cell phone access. Which companies work best in Dumaguete? Is one company better to work with that others?

    Thanks,

    BigJim

Smart seems to have the widest coverage, with Globe a close second. Smart has much better customer service (although still lacking).

All network works well, Globe, Smart, and Suncel. It improves a lot than the late 90's and early 2000. But there are still deadspots here in Dumaguete and other neighboring towns. Satellite mobile phones works well too except bad weather.

Smart is better if you wanna yell at the staff when things don't work, the lines at the service counter are shorter.
Globe seems to be bigger here than smart in Dumaguete,
If you need a cell just to have one, it does not really matter, if you need it for business and really use it often, you might wanna look what service most of your partners have.

    cheers

Big Jim, it doesn't cost that much to try both. You can sign up and get a number and then buy a prepaid card and check them both out. As Rhoody said, lines are significantly shorter at Smart and they are located in the mall on the 2nd fl by the food court. Globe is on the boulevard one block from Silliman. If you will be living in Dumaguete city, it may not matter which one you get. When it comes to internet, you have to do more homework. Good luck.
