Can any Americans who have applied at the Cebu US consulate for the Certificate of Legal Capacity to Marry in the Philippines tell me how long the process takes to receive the affidavid once you appear in front of Mr. Domingo? Thanks

Just tried to call John Domingo and his number has changed. I did it around 8 years ago and as I remember it only took 1 day, but that may not be the same now. Here is a number for Manila embassy that will get you connected direct and bypass all the machines. You may be able to get the info there. Hope it helps. 02-526-9819.

Hey thanks Ron. I will call both Cebu and Manila tomorrow am. That affidavit is step one in the process here, then seminar, then license then party. Where are you from? Me, born in Seattle, lived in California, former marine, retired from IBM.

Hi Pat. I'm originally from California and lived in Hawaii for 10 years, and now 13 in the Philippines. I sailed into Cebu and decided to stay.

Also I just talked to a friend that was married around a year ago, he said as long as you have all your required papers, and your sweetheart with you, it's done on the spot.

We also did ours ten years ago and it would have only taken a day but we did not bring proof of relationship or something to that effect so had to go back for letters but after our return we got it that day.

Thanks Ron, my home ince 1995 has been in the Carlsbad Ca area, son in Aptos, daughter in Newport Beach. Sounds like you have had a cool life in some of the world's best garden spots. Knowing I may be able to access the marriage affidavit on the spot is extremely helpful for my wedding planning. Cheers

    For your info......
Some years ago I moved from Carlsbad California to Dumaguete......Me and my wife got our Certificate of legal Capacity in Cebu....it didn't take long. We wanted to get married in front of a judge, but that doesn't work in Philippines. So we married in a small church.
Reason why the judges can't wed you is that they do not accept any document i Leu of anything.
All documents must be from the US but such documents are not available in the US. They don't track marriages and divorces. Happy Wedding!

I got mine in Manila. It did not take long as Asawa has a friend working in the embassy. Her friend came and got us so we did not have to wait in line to get in. After that just have to answer questions and let them give you a hard time for a moment to make sure you are not doing it for profit. .....
