Sounds like things went as they should which is not always the case. Maybe they had a great BI officer, maybe he was hungry and wanted to go to lunch, having attended the seminar is not an express lane pass but is one less justification a BI officer can use to ruin someone's day. Kinda in the same way the guard at Lee Plaza the other day wanted my wife to leave her backpack, I said nothing to him, told her "let me carry it", put it on my shoulder and he looked away (an often occurrence there, I just forgot to take the backpack before we entered that time). Me carrying it instead of her was no guarantee, but it does increase the odds of not being hassled.

 

I have also noticed this where ever we go where there are guards, my Wife must always open her bag so they can poke around with their stick and look inside, but never ask me to show or open my shoulder bag I carry as I walk straight past them...
