    Well, if the West had no been putting pressure on China about their population the One Child policy might not have been put in place....so yeah, so plenty of blame to go around. I also suspect their are fewer women reported on the census since their parents didn't report the birth. Half of the Chinese population live outside of city limits where it is much easier to hide a child from the government. Not saying that infanticide didn't happen or that it is right though.

    I believe the US is starting to go through this right now with all the baby-boomers retiring. Of course we don't have a billion freakin' people but the problem is still there. To many people collecting retirement/social benefits, not enough paying in.

    Birth control for both men and women really changed the projected demographics.

    So did the revenue restructuring (FICA) and putting IOUs into the SSA fund. Those monies taken out prematurely did not have a chance to compound over the decades like they were originally intended to do.

    Penny wise? Nope.

    Just more pound foolishness.
