Pedicurists we have many, I have tried a few and have a particular favourit but.. I have a problem with 1 Toe nail that really needs a Chiropodist, has anyone any Information on one. All I get from Google and other Research is Hospital Clinics which I would sooner stay away from.

So, has any one come across one of these either.

Not really bothered what they are called here but some attention to this nail would be soooooooooo Good!:D

Old American colony, not British. Try looking on the board at Silliman (where you get your sick call number) for "Podiatrist" or "Podiatry". Gotta use proper English to find what you want in the Philippines.

Jack, if your problem is a nail growing into the side of your toe and infecting it, I had that problem in two other countries and went to a a regular doctor, not a specialist. The treatment was they numb the toe than cut all or some of the nail off. Wasn't fun but immediately took the pain and pressure off and in my case the infection drained out. Good luck with that.

As I said not wanting the Hospital, i was Quoted a big amount to do a job that should not be expensive. I have all my Bloods and things done on a regular and do not see the need for the same thing again just because it boosts the revenue.

Thanks for the Input Dustin but I guess i will go with Pat's suggestion.

Pat, not Quite like that but the nail grows Under itself like a claw, it gets a little callous traped and this grows with the Nail, I have had it for years but have always had a good person to get the nail so short that the callous is exposed and can be removed, I will explore more as my own doctor just recommended a "Podiatrist'" as Dustin suggested but they just want to do all the other tests as well and I feel I don't want to pay twice for things.

Call me tight maybe but I have had this before and I see no reason to swell Hospitals Coffers for no good reason.

    Cheers my friend:D

So! my friends, in conclusion, I have just got back from Town, Limping and Smarting a little but Job Done.
As Dustin said, I was not looking for the right thing, although I was not really looking at the wrong thing either but maybe not expecting a negative here, when I inquired at pedicurists But we do live and Learn.
So off i went to a Little Salon next to Pick and Carry on Perdices, whose owners daughter just happens to be a "Podiatrist" (She worked at Silliman some time ago) After a Foot soak and then a Freezing Spray, Snip, snip and the offending nail was cut to a level she could get to the problem. It was a tiny piece of Grit that was no bigger than a pin head but like a Pearl in an Oyster the body was wrapping this grit to make it Smooth and was getting Bigger.
She said it will happen again as the depression in the Skin does not close properly due to the nail growing over it.
cost; 250 peso. Result! As Pat said it hurt after but to have that pressure release was Great and to walk with out constant pain even now is so Good.

I asked about the hospital wanting bloods, OH! She said they always do that to get a calcium Read so they can see what other problems there may be, but all this was just as I have said and so I think I made the right decision.
Thank You to those that Replied, basing today on others comments certainly had me looking in the right direction.

If you can remember the name of the place I will add it to the Showcase under "Services" for Dumaguete. I'm sure it could be useful to others in Dumaguete. (I have had 2 ingrown toenails cut out by a doctor, they used some acid that was supposed to keep the nail from growing back but it did not work. I have mine growing back again. I've been using a pair of pliers to rip the bugger out before it starts to grow under the skin.)

1/2 gallon of Kentucky Deluxe and a dremel with medium sanding barrel usually does the job when I have a toenail problem.
