    Anyone tried this place yet?
    Are you looking for refreshments this summer without spending too much? You can now taste Frappé at a lower price! With the fast growing trend of cafes and pastry shops in Dumaguete, this startup café in Valencia town has been attracting food travelers who wish to satisfy their summer cravings with sweet cold treats.

    Chubby cheeks which is situated at smith Street, Mercado de Valencia, is owned by Almen Mei Metran, who hails from Davao City. This café had their grand opening last April 1, 2016 and today, it has drawn students from Dumaguete City, families and tourists from and outside the province.

    Miss Almen shared her idea of coming up with the establishment of her café. Her family loves to hang around Valencia especially at the park where her children loved to play. With the busy marketplace that offers refreshments near the park, Miss Almen came up with the idea of opening up her own café which was also inspired by her youngest son who loves to eat ice cream and burger. She also mentioned that her sisters in Siquijor who happened to manage a number of food cafes in Lazi, San Juan and Siquijor inspired her to open her own branch in Valencia.     Tried a cheeseburger from this place yesterday and was very unimpressed: very small patty and small peace of cheese place between a massive sweet bun. Asked for mayonnaise only but got some white sugar-based cream instead. Tasted like every other local style burger I've had in the country (all bun and toppings with way too much sugar). Fries were good....but I have the exact same brand sitting in the freezer here at home. I'll stop by again to give it a second chance sometime, not in any hurry for that to happen though.

    I went there one evening and it was OK. There is not a lot of food places in the area late at night after Pocos Tacos closes. I went there on a later night run after 7. It was almost funny: "Sorry sir. No hamburgers, and no rice meals." NO RICE meals? My gf will not eat with out rice. "Well sir we have no rice or hamburger buns". There were three able bodied young ladies that could walk there and they did not have rice or hamburger buns in a City Plaza area filled with rice vendors and bakeries. I think the owner needs to spend a little more time around the business or put in enough capital to buy rice for the staff to cook. There were no customers there but there were three staff members there with their phones a blazing... lol.

    I find it hilarious how awful some of these people run a business. Run out of coke and they are right next to a place that sells it sometimes even a grocery store yet rather than making a sale where a restaurant charges you 45p for a can of coke that costs 20p at the grocery store (and sometimes this is inside Robinson's Mall with a grocery store right there) they rather not make a sale that would still profit. Out of rice and who wants to bet their isn't a place within a 2 minute walk that sells rice, many cases within less then a minute walk.

    For those burgers that just don't have enough meat.... what is so wrong with selling an additional patty making it a double? That's what we did and was easy to figure out how much each patty costs on average and then just bump it up a tad for an extra patty or *double burger*.

    For a place that has TONS of foreigners around why not have some of the condiments foreigners actually like even if their is a small extra charge. Real mayo and tomato ketchup is all that is really needed. Tomato ketchup 44p or so a bottle and while real mayo is like 240p a jar vs a bigger filipino crap mayo that is less then 100p. Charge me an extra 5p if need be for having those switched, I'm all good.

    No common sense. When I opened with Ecil's I was asking customers what they were interested in or what suggestions they have because no one knows the customers better than the customers. Not everything is feasible but some things are very feasible and offer a better end product. Also workers should be feeling the pressure to fill the gaps on stock should something run out if its easily available next door for some of the obvious things (rice and soda).

    I do wonder how many of these owners would eat at their own business and be happy to pay those prices for it as well. I often think at many of these places the owner would never eat at their own place unless starving. I happily eat at my place even when my cupboards are stocked.

    We went a couple days ago. Three person staff and just the two of us for customers. Ordered a double burger and a double cheese burger. The double burger (p90) was like a big mac (3 piece bun) and had a slice of cheese on the bottom burger. The double cheese burger (p95) was a single burger with two slices of cheese. I asked for my double and was told I had a double because it had two slices of cheese - say what? (A cheeseburger with extra slice of cheese would be p70 according to the menu) You can't fight stupid but I never have to go back. Wasn't a complete loss, the fries were good and real mustard was on the table.

    Never been there but my bet would be Belcris as it seems to be the hotspot for getting fries for many business's here. They have 2 different thincut french fries and also the thicker cut fries as well.
