Well , give them another ten years or so.
see what happens if this country is a big pile off trash
in cluding the seas around here
and 4 milion visitors stop coming for holidays

no clean air in manila , cebu ,etc .
as a toerist u come to see a beautyfull place to
spend u hard earned holiday, people here forget
that this countrie 's economy runs on foreigners and toerist
being already with 100 mil , and they way they polute there place
u can count on ur 5 fingers where this is leading to ,
sorry for those paperskinned people here for being so straightforward
and yess u can say mind ur own business,
i just tell as it is

They have far more employees than they need at McDonalds as it is. If they didn't pick up the trays they would just stand around doing less than they already do and would probably have their jobs cut. The Philippines is not the only country in the world where people do not pick up their own trays at fast food restaurants. It's a cultural thing, It's just how it is and I can accept that. It's not like it has ever stopped me from sitting down and eating my meal. If a tray is in my way I just push it to the side or sit mine on top of it. It will be someone else's problem to clean up the bottom of my tray. If it was completely packed I would just call the guard or cleaning boy to come pick it up. It's really not something to get upset about. It's a little thing....and little things can kiss my @ss.

It is disappointing seeing the school kids walking past every day just throwing their garbage where ever they like! They came up with the brush cutters to cut the verges the other day and I noticed after they had finished the garbage was terrible. You would think someone would have some pride in their are but it is not so here!
On many a trip to Cebu on the South road maybe a few of you have noticed how some of the areas are kept with nice plants and painted rocks etc up the side of the highway and no garbage.
When my mrs lived in Liloan in Cebu every Sunday morn a group of them would get together and collect the garbage and plant nice flowers and plants around the barangay,it does not seem to happen here anywhere.
As to the disposal of the huge quantities of garbage here, the city should maybe look into a small garbage incinerator which could also generate electric for the city.

As a few of you will also know there is a fishing guy called mike alano on this site who organises beach clean ups a couple of times a year at siliman beach and I think also a year or so ago there was a huge cleanup through the city and boulavard, the trouble is within a week it looked the same as the locals just didn't give a sh*t or even notice it had been done!
As been said many times before on here it has to start at elementary level and drummed into them about the environment and garbage issues. Also like a previous poster mentioned in ten years time there will be no fish to eat as they cannot seem to get it about leave the tiny fish in the sea and they will get bigger.
I know this is not the only country who has these problems but a start is needed somewhere.

The problem that any Town has if it is ignored by the people, means it is first ignored by the Mayor.......who passes the attitude down, either positive or negative as the case may be.....

I leave my tray at McDo's also. As Wrye said, it's a cultural thing. Tossing my own trash is a tough habit to break for me.

It kinda ticks me off in the US that I am eating at a restaurant (even fast food) and have to clean up my own mess. What makes fast food different from other restaurants in American's eyes? Would you go to a Texas Road House and be expected to clean your own plates? Olive Garden? I think the Philippines has got this one right. McDonald's (and other day food restaurants) has made their American customers their cleaning crew and they rake in a lot more profit because of it. Think about it, if each place had to hire people to do this for 3 shifts that would cost them, what, and extra 60k USD for each store? They have conditioned you to work for them (and even pay them for the privilege of doing so).

I leave my tray even in the US. Screw them. :troll:
