I recall it was mentioned that he does not live in Dumaguete, though his office address is there. And that's why, ahem, Dumaguete City authorities did not take responsibility for him. Though he spread his poison around his office, the courts, the Provincial Center, possibly NORSU, and the jail. Personally, I would like to see him dealt with in legal or administrative proceedings, not by doxxing.

#NewsBite: Provincial IATF ground commander Dr. Liland Estacion told reporters on Tuesday that although it is not yet confirmed, health authorities are now considering the presence of COVID-19 community transmission in Negros Oriental.

This, as more and more cases with no travel history and no known contact with previously infected cases are being reported.

Community transmisson occurs when a pathogen infects persons in a community with no known identified source that got them infected.

Contact tracing is still ongoing, Estacion said.

Why are they considering? The criteria are present so ACTION is needed, not more faffing about.

The same as with masks - had they made them mandatory from the very early stages, thousands would now be alive who sadly are not. Instead some countries have taken months (of 'considering', I assume) to do the obvious.

In most regards dealing with Covid is coordinated at the National level so they need to Manila folks to agree the transmissions are local before declaring them as "Local Transmission".
On one hand it seems a bit odd that the locals have limited autonomy but on the other hand it a good thing that politicians don't have a lot of influence. To me it looks like the National Government has a Plan and Leadership.
No problems with having a plan and a leader.

They are giving their contact tracing and isolation efforts a chance to snuff out the pockets before requiring the surrounding community to slow down the economy. It is possible that by using contact tracing and isolation that they could track down all the infections and stop the communication of the disease.

They are sending signals that it does not look like their contact tracing is going to be enough to snuff out the spread. These signals are to prepare the community for more enhanced measures that will slow down the economy.

If a community is fanatical about contact tracing and isolation then the spread of the virus can be stopped completely. Taiwan and China are examples of this. Recently China went about the testing of 1 million people because one person was found infected with the virus.

One of the measures will be to stop the sharing of drinking glasses by stopping the sale of alcohol. Generally speaking those people who share drinking glasses do not think ahead and stock up.

So what they are telling you is that it is time to stock up on alcohol.

LOOK: Here's a sneak peek at Negros Oriental's very own molecular laboratory, where RT-PCR tests will be conducted for COVID-19 suspects and patients.

The laboratory will have its test run tomorrow, October 27, 2020.

Once approved, Negros Oriental can conduct RT-PCR testing of it own; RT-PCR tests remain the gold standard for COVID-19 diagnosis.

I think the "considering" means that once national and local agree there's a problem, money and expertise opens up from National. A few more cases and I think it will open up. I'm glad they are being this transparent. We have from Bayawan, to Zamboangita, to Dauin, to Dumaguete, to Guihulngan with cases and at least 3 with cases from unknown transmission. Hope our lab passes so we can run tests quickly. With such a large spread, I'm not confident it will be snuffed out quickly, which I give them credit they did in the past.

I agree. That's my point. If they manage to contain this one, they are good, and we had some good luck.

#NewsBite: Mayor Glenson Alanano said Wednesday that he is indefinitely extending the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) in Barangays Poblacion, Mayabon, and Lutoban.

This, as the town awaits the swab test results of 59 contacts of previously infected patients.

The granular MECQ was originally declared from October 20 to 28.
