I tried out an Inihaw marinade for some chicken wings and drumsticks (I hate legs so they were for the kids). The marinade smelled great but the chicken came out a bit bland, I do think that was on me as I only let things marinade for an hour as we had folks stopping by. I will try it again with some thighs but let it soak overnight.

Prince has been carrying a Hungarian sausage that truly rocks, they are a bit pricy but the best sausage I have found so far. I'm a brats and hot links guy so folks may have a different idea on what is good or not. I will stop by tomorrow and buy out their stock if they have any left,..

Guess folks will just have to stop by before I get around to it; it was 2 days ago since I was last there so they may be gone by now. First time I've seen them in the almost 8 months I've been here so may not see them again.

I gave the Inihaw marinade another shot today, marinade for 6 hours for some thighs before hitting the grill. It was OK, kind of surprising because the sauce smells great and has a good taste...maybe better as a dipping sauce than a marinade. I can do better with some garlic, onion and soy sauce.

I did leave 4 packs of 2ea of the sausages, I bought the rest, so I was not too greedy. Just grilled one each for me and the wife tonight along with the chicken, love these sausages and could not recommend them higher...if I could get some sauerkraut it would be close to perfection.

I would think that sauerkraut would be pretty easy to make. You just need cabbage, salt, a jar and time.

    How to make homemade sauerkraut.

I had never eaten chick peas (garbanzos) until going to Afghanistan, really fell in love with them. We eat them a lot here (canned variety) and the wife and kids seem to really like them as well. I see them at quite a few stores and the market so I asked my wife what foods Filipinos used them for since I have never had them in a Filipino dish and she had no clue as she never ate them until I started cooking with them. So my question is does anyone know what dishes they use them in?

I am using the adobo seasoning as a marinade for some wings and thighs for tonight, first time trying it so hopefully it is good...plus the niece living with us is the birthday girl today so I expect to have a few folks over tonight.

New Year inspires healthier eating so making fruit breads and muffins for breakfast, snacks and dessert. Using bananas, apples, coconut, pineapple, mango or carrots, find many recipes on pinterest. Using the toaster oven works fine. Also coconut oil has many uses besides using in the recipes. Eg. softens dry skin, natural sunscreen and repels mosquitos, a few drops in pets water or on food is good for their fur and skin, rub on their dry paws, removes sticky labels from plastic and glass, endless. Smoothies another great start for morning or dessert. Get out the blender and try some, green ones use spinach, fruits, juice and tastes wonderful. Waiting for avocados to be in season again, they add nice flavor also. Get in the kitchen!

Yesterday I went with oyster sauce (with garlic) added a bunch of garlic, onion and a bit of sea salt for some chicken thighs (4 hours). It turned out really well.

I love curry so picked up some curry seasoning and will try it with some pork chops. I really wanted to put a lot of chili peppers in the mix but the kids are not up for spicy...spicy curry and rice go hand in hand to me....will have some chopped chili on the side for me and Cherry. This concoction will sit for about 5 hours. Never used curry seasoning for the grill so wish me luck.

Not everyone, I know, is a lover/liker of Spam but this sounded Different so we tried it. Not bad

    VINEYARD SPAM SALAD

    Recipe By : Jack
    Good for 6

    -------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 cn SPAM Luncheon Meat, cubed
    -(12 oz)
2/3 c Mayonnaise or salad dressing
    1 tb Lime juice
    1 t Dry mustard
    2 c Seedless grapes
1 c Peapods, cut in half
1/2 c Thinly sliced red onion

In skillet, saute SPAM over high heat 2 minutes,
stirring constantly; set aside. In small bowl, combine
mayonnaise, lime juice, and dry mustard. In large
bowl, combine grapes, SPAM, peapods, and onion. Tos
with mayonnaise mixture. Cover and chill 1 hour.

I am into salads so I thought it would be good here. Hope others are saladites as I can Post more when I have had chance to Experiment.
Like many others I can just improvise a little sometimes.
