It is common here for the teachers of elementary and high schools to demand money for floor wax electric fans brooms and dustpans etc., if a student does not pay or bring the item then they loose points/ marks, so are the students buying their results?

Ohh i can relate to this!,i still remember 35 years ago my teachers (public school)would ask us for contribution for any sort of beautification of the classroom or the school building, espicially when the regional supervisor is expected to visit. I remember during those time the teachers are not well paid, they even have to pay extra expenses from their own pocket and sometimes their salary comes after 3 months. I think department heads or ministers were already cost controlling or corruption was obviously started.

But, in positive view being innocent and still young to know, i was very obedient and happy to bring all the requirements as i didn't want to lose points on my grades. I learned to make dustpans(there was no dustpan for sale that time), brooms, planting and cleaning the classroom almost everyday. I made sure that i don't missed points of all subjects as i wanted to be good in all aside from curriculum! in order for me to get Scholarship after highschool.

During those time a pupil/ student has to be consistently at the top 1 or 3 to be granted for Full Government Scholarship. I was granted at the end, Free tuition fee, Clinic & some medications, and 500pesos Food & House allowance. I survived for 2 years, until i started to hate the real system, joined group against the government until i give up!

My Parents decided me to continue study in Manila, and there i start to see the real world-big city! for a suburb girl coming from Mindanao. The environment i was living in was probably the reason i change my perception in life. I study no so Hard, i enjoy a bit of night life:dnr: and i decided not to be a Hero! Heheheh. 1995, i left Philippines(hated very much) and wanted not to come back, But destiny brought me here. Now, i learned how to be Blind even if i can see and be Deaf if i can hear! Until now this country home doesn't change. I'm so surprised that there's still public school practicing such habits!

Hay! I'll just have my coffee na lang! Or beer!
