Heck, I've been in the market for a spacious unfurnished house 2-3 bedroom that is decent looking around 8-12k a month with pref hot/cold shower and possibly aircon. Not sure where those kinds of posts are allowed anymore if they are even with all the changes to the forums :p

But if they are allowed beyond what I said looking in Dumaguete/Valencia/Sibulan area, want hot/cold shower and aircon with a spacious living room and 2-3 bedroom. Someplace safer, and def quieter (no chickens outside the bedroom window, noisy dogs yapping all night long, not on a major road, and similiar). Decent airflow and lighting a must.... if it looks like a sardine can (standard camella homes type unit) then its not for me.

lol, no chickens outside? if you find a place like that please let me know. Aircon, you'd be better off buying one yourself.. i had a furnished unit some 2 years ago and the aircon filter was never changed and blew warm air, landlord completely refused to pay to clean/change it upon numerous request from me..long story short, i paid few hundred pisos had it cleaned worked OK.. bottom line you never know how old it is or if its been cleaned(filter), and what their policy is. As for hot shower, i have yet to see that in a house, may be better off living in a hotel

Seen a number of houses over the years with a hot/cold shower.... even a few with aircon which isn't mandatory in my list. You can find places w/o chickens outside your bedroom window.... but yah you need to expect them to be nearby. But if to close to the bedroom dinner then something bad is going to happen to those chickens late at night :p

chickens are nuffin compared to the neighborhood DJ that has six foot high plywood speakers that takes it his sworn duty to play his choice of music every weekend at his highest volumn til 2 am ..for the enjoyment of the whole barangay you understand..but then Im only speaking of personal experience ....ugh !!

That's why I have got the loudest speakers in our Barangay , with cabling that allows for the best defensive/attack position , I never lose that little war :D

I had debated buying some really powerful speakers and then find some of the most annoying music I could just to play the revenge game on.

There is a very long term resident of Negros who is a member on the forum , who had problems with his neighbours excessively loud music , he wanted to confront them and have it out . On the advice of his wife they decided on the fight fire with fire approach , so he set up some decent speakers and continually played traditional chinese music on full pelt for a while , and voila , no more problems .

I know this has been on the forum before , but it is just mind boggling the sound level that some Filipino's want to operate at , we were at Robinsons the other day and there was a show of some sorts going on in the centre area and it was that ridiculously over the top loud that it was really completely inaudible . And this was something set up by a hired sound company , they really have absolutely no idea , I actually seen the so called "experts" sitting their controlling it on their laptops , I just thought to myself where the bloody hell did you learn your trade mate . There were other expats that walked past and looked at me just shaking their heads. It really is just another example of over the top ignorance , with people thinking that they are doing a great job .

When people have no taste in quality they think *louder* means better I guess.

I recently bought a new radio/mp3 player for my house just for some easy going music sometimes. I find myself having to constantly readjust the volume after my lady turns it up. It could be in the kitchen and I could hear it in the computer room at a soft volume (rooms are on opposite sides of a 3 bedroom apartment). Yet she's in the kitchen/living room area and its not loud enough for her sometimes :p

I find how this thread turned from title to current conversation quite interesting. Lol, upon reading this it made me think there may actually be a scientific or medical explanation to this. After a year of me having to ask questions over and over to get an answer and louder volume levels I questioned her what was the issue? She claimed she had lack of hearing, her english is perfect with a slight accent so I knew it wasnt a communication problem..she went on to explain she experienced this and had seen a Doctor about it only to be told not to eat certain types of food..LOL. Being a former US physician myself I love hearing the treatment plan for all sorts of issues people go to the clinic for, its hilarious. Maybe this is the reason all the filipino families in my barangay seem to "yell" everything at an absurd volume level, or perhaps why music is blasted so loud.. Just like in modern medicine we know that certain ethnicities lack enzymes or other hormones compared to caucasion, perhaps the filipino lacks a volume mediater.. not saying this is bad or intending any bad comments but just saying itd be an interesting study for sure, id love to research this should i have the funding
