I start to develop an allergic reaction when people use the phrase "new normal".

Nobody should ever accept whatever is sold under this label as anything else but temporary measures. Dont call that normal, or else it will be.

The title of this thread "Covid-19 OPINIONS. People don't need to supply links to support their opinion unless they want to.

Do you have any citations or would you like to leave this as your opinion. By the way now that you have done some research you are more or less confirming what @Philpots said.

Went out today. First time since April 2. It was nice. Had a Pass in my pocket, or as I say, a "Golden Ticket". Drove down to the Blvd, parked and went walking to NORECO to pay my bill. Walked past the PNB and then down Silliman. The checkpoint was there checking vehicles, never asked me anything, had a mask on. Got my bills paid and picked up a few things from the Y Not that I wanted.

Note: the Y Not had many different cheeses available. I think Marco is moving some of his stock from the kitchen out front.

Never asked to show a pass. The Water District and NORECO are both operating "senior lines", it was a breeze doing business.

Was really nice to walk around, not many people, easy to maintain social distancing.

    Oh, and I'm 68.

whoever you ment, your comment is useless and a bit offending. trying to degrade people debating about an extraordinary situation we all have to suffer from doesn't show real wisdom. it is just sharing information to create a better understanding, what's wrong with that? noone here pretends to be a rocket scientist.

Today's word of the day is: ultracrepidarian.

Meaning a person who expresses opinions outside the scope of their knowledge or expertise.

The majority of voters world wide don't know even the basics of standard scientific research. In this case, whether true or false, on a the discovery of a new strain of SARS CoV-2 found in bats. This is quite normal research and without such research scientists would have no way of understanding for example the morphogenesis of the virus (how it changes over time). Thankfully today we have some idea of how these things work and we are better prepared to tackle them. So in a rare admission I give thanks to the US for their apparent funding of this now I'm sure, important research.

my point was about the fact that
    - US government is financing a virology lab in China with 3,7m $
    - US scientists take research and manipulate a virus they found on bats together with Chinese scientists.
I am quite sure that the majority of American voters doesn't know that.
It might change the tone of discussion about the virus and it's origin if people would be informed better.

The first link implies the SARS-CoV2 came from the Wuhan lab without giving any source to back that up. They also jump to some incorrect conclusions with the sources they do provide: such as saying the US (implying that it is the government doing it) is wanting to blame China because civil cases are being filed by American citizens. Citizens can file civil cases for any reason against any person, entity or government they want and they do it all the time...that doesn't mean the cases will be won or even see their day in front of a judge or jury.

It looks like very sh*t reporting with an extremely obvious agenda. Looking at Miss Lin's other articles it seems very obvious, IMO, her articles rely far more on opinion and agenda than serious journalism. Seems she is a bit of a snowflake and a sensationalist fear mongering hack and Chinese apologist. Example: she writes of "interment camps for Chinese Americans?" (If there is a question asked in an article's title the answer is almost always "no, there is no evidence to support the question".)

She also writes of "China might take Iran’s side in a war with US" where she goes on to say we are in the middle of a cold war while pointing to a source that says no such thing. She is a hack and Asia Times' editors don't seem too concerned with verifying their writers' sources.
