Covid demographics for the United States:
    https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid_weekly/index.htm

It looks like Covid accounts for 10% of total deaths when averaged across all ages. The older ages have a significantly higher infection rate and morbidity rate. It's around 10% for older people to <1% for younger people.

Other countries can be found here:
    https://ourworldindata.org/mortality-risk-covid

This link touches on comorbidity rates along with other topics.

That seems the idea (as was fitting registration plates to vehicles!) but @Always a Poppy is correct that the figures seem not to add up - either 120 million doses for 60 million people or the 60 million quoted sufficient for only 30 million people.

If I had a shortage of vaccine I would use it on the front-liners (medical, police, army), the ill and/or obese, the working elderly (start 70+ and work down).

The non-working elderly would have to protect themselves and the young (excluding the ill as they are accounted for above) would be left to get natural immunity via exposure (and in so doing they would help build a total 60% or more herd immunity).

[QUOTE="After announcing last week that there would be 60m vaccine shots for 30m Filipinos (two each), today NIATF has announced that 60m Filipinos will benefit from vaccination. That might be someone misunderstanding their own information, what what a farce![/QUOTE]

:angelic: I would read that as the plan is to vaccinate 60% of the population to achieve the threshold for herd immunity. :cat: As my wife says - I just think so.

Not sure how the average person is going to pay for this. But the heck with the poor, to quote Ebeneezer Scrooge, if they must die let them do so and reduce the surplus population.

And here just this week or last, a company in the US has developed an at home test that costs around $5, or less than 250P.

From CNN Philippines: The Philippine government has set a price range for RT-PCR (real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) tests for COVID-19 in the country following complaints of exorbitant rates charged on clients.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on Wednesday said the range for these tests in private hospitals and laboratories is set from ₱4,500 to ₱5,000. Public facilities are only allowed to charge ₱3,800 for a swab test."

"Duque said private facilities are allowed to charge cheaper than the set floor price but they cannot exceed ₱5,000 — even for rush test results."

"Duque also said they will also study putting a price cap on test kits and on antigen testing."

The map has been updated to Nov 22. In spite of new cases it looks like something is going right here, at least the trend appears positive to me. The rapid antigen tests do help, and the lab is up and running. I'm optimistic again.
