We found a very good indian restaurant "Curry" in the Aldecoa Dr., this is the street to the Silliman Hospital. Simple interieur, friendly staff, menue card not too big - we had 2 great fresh Mango Lassi, wife was happy with a chicken Biryani, I got surprised by a good portion of chicken Korma, we also tried the crispy fresh Naan bread and a salad with yoghurt dressing. Everything together for a very fair price - totally recommendable new restaurant. It's getting better and better in Dumaguete.

I don't recall this "continuous trashing" - in fact, many members write very positive reviews of restaurants. However, members here have the right to be forewarned of the bad as much as the good. You highly rated Kri, as have others, but if anyone has any negatives then they have as much right to let us know as you do. Does 'Tripadvisor' print only positives? And if it did, then would any of us know the truth.Obliged Friend said: ↑I stopped coming to Dumaguete Info because of the continious trashing of local restaurants. This was under the previous management. It must be very difficult to get supplies delivered to Dumaguete. KRI is a wonderful place to dine.Click to expand...
This site is extremely good and of huge use to members living in the Dumagute area - it was as good under previous management as it is now. The owners create the space and the members make it what it is, especially in the Forums.-

This Biriani is really a great fortune for all people in this area who love indian food. the owner is a pretty nice guy (from india?) who knows a lot about this food, and is willing to tell you about the thousands of different indian currys. And for me, it seems, he is able to cook them. Spicy or not, he does it for you, and me and my friends and family, found it incredible tasty. The restaurant spot directly on the highway is not so nice, noise and exhaust from the usual traffic, but home delivery is no problem. Price is quite fair for that quality. Beside the Spice, Curry and Roti highly recommended, give this young guy a chance for his business, he is working hard on it. And please, do not compare such places with Jolibee or anything, the owner doesn't deserve that.DavyL200 said: ↑There is a new indian resto opposite side of highway to octagon called biriani point, not tried it yet but the menu looks ok.Click to expand...-

If you have not gone to the spice restaurant in Valencia I highly recommend it, they serve up some very good indian, thai, and western cuisine. And if you ever heard the expression it is so clean you can eat of the floor then this is the place.

Tried Curry House for lunch today. My wife ordered the combo plate, I ordered the chicken korma. Very spicy, I do like spicy but even for me it was on the edge, but my wife could not eat any of it. I liked the food except for a chicken dish on the combo plate, it was inedible. There were only two other tables with people, and still it took 45 minutes for our food to arrive. We were just in the process of gathering up our stuff to leave when they finally came with the food, but really we should have left long before. My wife does not want to go back, but I would be willing to give them a second try. I told her next time we will remember to request not so spicy when we place our order, I would like to try the tandoori and some of the other dishes (requested not so spicy), but the VERY slow service decreases the odds that we would go back again.

You got remember he brings all the spices from india and grinds and mixes them himself for different dishes.Smally said: ↑My wife and I had lunch at the Curry House today after seeing the reviews on here. I remember long ago when we would go out to eat and if someone said it was taking a long time for the food to get to us my Father would always remind us: That good food takes time to prepare, bad food can be whipped together quickly.Smally said: ↑My wife and I had lunch at the Curry House today after seeing the reviews on here. Last night decided to try Curry House as in town. The place was neat and tidy, seating a little sparce how ever adequate.
Service was attentive (boyot) an polite, had the pleasure of meeting the owner whom was very talkative and pleasant.
Ordered chicken korma with naan, meal arrived in 30 minutes and was generous an delicious, extremely orthentic. Spice was mild although I was not asked about this when ordering. For those unfamiliar with Indian food the excess use of ginger does increase the spiciness of food. Give ger is heavily used in Indian food.
It's a place I will be going to each time I am in town, highly recommended.-

Best AnswerI think there has been like 4 different owners of DI since I've been a member...people will bash a place here and there but a lot of folks do put out some info on some gems of restaurants to try. We don't usually have a ton of time when I'm home to check out all recommendations but the spots we do normally stop by have mostly been from forum member comments.Obliged Friend said: ↑I stopped coming to Dumaguete Info because of the continious trashing of local restaurants. Sometimes you have to filter things a bit; but also there are a lot of expats from many different countries and locals that have very different tastes.
For an example, I'm not a fan of baked beans (pork and beans) on the best of occasions and to find that on my breakfast... But, with my love of Korean food, a perfect breakfast could be fried eggs, spam, kimchi and rice...or just some ramyen and kimbap. Different strokes for different folks.
