    Ace Logic will charger 250 peso to fault find. If its the motherboard, ask them for the part number on motherboard and how many pins on screen ribbon. I use Aliexpress for all my needs and if you do a search I'm sure you will find a motherboard for half the price of locally sourced. Anyway get the fault finding done, then decide your next step. I have just ordered a new motherboard for my Compaq Presario CQ56 on Aliexpress for $60 with free shipping, downside it takes 60 days delivery. You can get them couriered but you will get hit for customs duty.

    I have ha good service from Algorithm. I can't remember their charge out rates but they were reasonable.
    Algorithum is about 100 meters north on Changs on the north national highway (same side of the road).

    I will second that - Yolly is pretty amazing and their customer service is the best in town. They have done two jobs for us - one of them a complicated tear down and video card replacement on a high-end gaming laptop. Provided photos of all the work as she was doing it and helped us find where to get a replacement video card on Hong Kong Ebay.

    First rate!

    Sounds like a video card failure which requires a new MB. You'd be better off with a new system. Check out Lazada dot com. They sometimes have specials on decent laptops and you can get a good deal. And I wouldn't buy used here either - unless (like PCDoc noted) you know the seller very well.

    Hi! notanewbie,

    One long beep and two short beeps on startup may be video failure, which may require MB replacement depending on the unit. Also depending on the age of the laptop and where it was purchased, a MB replacement may be too expensive for the value of the laptop.

    We stop at Robinsons or downtown several times a week. We could meet you at McDonald's or Robinson's and if you bring your laptop we may be able to look at it and give you an idea of what it will take.

    If you'd rather take it to a shop, they should be able to give you a diagnosis and estimate for not a whole lot.

    I would not recommend buying a used laptop here unless from someone you know and you know it has been cared for.
