Birds of a feather flock together. Besides friends on this forum, I have a few friends I met at the gym, at Sans Rival at the mall, and at my boy's schools. There are groups that play poker frequently and always a crowd at the boulevard locations. Some divers here will take on a dive buddy. No need to be a loner here unless that is what you want.

The few folks I meet up with when I'm there have all come from "meeting" first through this forum.

I was going to try and not be the first to answer this but seems I may be the only one awake or with some time this morning.
Unlike many of these Forums, members here are mainly within reach of each other,
Unless they are back in their own country we all seem to live in and around the Dumaguete Area? not like some forums where they are Spread, This is one of the Beauties of DI. You can always find somewhere on the boulevard, with people to talk to and of Course the foreigner Embassy at McDo's, it just depends on how much Crap you want to listen too as there are many characters in all the places that will change your mind about talking to them. For me, most (If not all) my friends are members here and I can just call/Message someone and then we meet and many have been to my House for Parties and/or just chat We have DI get together every now and Then and Friendships can develop from this. As I said, Dumaguete is a Place that you will not be stuck for developing Friendships. Having banter and discussions with members here will bring on some form of friendship and when you are here next meeting will be a lot less tension as you will sort of know them

I have a friend show spent 5 weeks with his wife in Mindoro and his concern was that after the vacation mode wore off, the talking to tourists mode wore off, he was left looking for a local group of English speaking friends to hang out with. That got me curious how one develops their social network when new to Dumaguete. Outside of your immediate family how do you usually meet people? Is it at the restobars, through the forum, are there place where foreigners congregate, like a coffee shop or McD's. Is most of the time spent with the family and the extended family? If you get tired and you want to talk English, German, Japanese, etc where does one go to develop those friendships?
