I would like to eat more fish here but it should be gilled n gutted when it is caught and not let it lay around in the heat before its sold maybe G AND G fish will weigh less but i would be willing to pay more for fish that have been treated better. I would not buy or eat fish treated like that here or in aust .

Alex if you know where to buy fresh harvested fish then you wouldnt have any problems. In wet market in downtown they dont lay it around in the heat instead they put it in a chiller and its chilled when they brought it out to show to customers but i must say sydney's fish market is the best :-). You can get your wife to check if the fish is still fresh or not :-)

I think everyone is missing the point here. This wasn't meant to be a pissing contest about who's country has more health concerns. I wasn't criticizing the Philippines. It was meant to show that there is a health problem that is growing in the Philippines that needs to be looked at. The article made a few suggestions on what is healthy to eat and what is not, it was not a complete list of foods. I don't see how it developed in to the "you need to adapt to our way or get out" thread. I'm NOT complaining about the food, that's a different thread. This was about the health of the average filipino and how they could benefit from a healthier diet.

Sherwood : you seem to be defensive on this issue. I don't understand why. If you say no one will ever change, fine, then the country should be prepared to have a lot people blacking out while driving, a lotof lower limb amputations and plenty of deaths related to obesity and diabetes. If no one is willing to help themselves then so be it. They shouldn't come running for help later on asking for the local or international community to help pay the medical bills.

There's a saying, "if you think education is expensive, try being stupid." this certainly applies here. Ignoring a problem won't make it go away. Your body, your choice, your medical bills.

this is the current obesity statistics of the world and philippines is one of the lowest followed by singapore. See it for yourself, i told you, before you cast a stone have a good look at yourself

I found this article informative. By 2030 the Philippines is projected to rank number 9 in the world for diabetes. Not surprising giving the poor diets of many filipino, fast food booming and sugar used in most every recipe. Given the poor medical facilities and the expense of buying drugs needed here for treatment it will likely be much more deadly than in the western world. -
if thats the case thrn you should rephrase your statement cause its quite contradicting.

9 is way too far from number 1,2, and 3 and before you say we have a poor diet as a filipino i would say why dont you have a good look at yourself and where you standing at? And how many filipinos are well educated about proper nutrition?not much especially the poor wouldnt have a clue of what a proper diet is. If you think you foreigners know better about proper nutrition then what happened to your country with all these growing numbers of obese kids and adults? Care to explain for once?
