Looks like my last post evaporated ? Anyhow, it is the invisable polution that will kill you long before that visible black smoke. You have 10's of thousands of poorly tuned motors( motorcycles, pedicabs, cars, trucks, pouring out little things like carbon monoxide, the colorless, odor less, invisible poision you are sucking in everyday. Try sucking on the tailpipe of even a tuned engine for a few minutes, then let me know how you feel.
Of course I have seen and heard the cigarette and cigar smokers sit there and complain also. Go figure.
Dumaguete is the "Motor Cycle Capitol of the whole Philippines" fact. Go to like Bacolod and you will see, hera, and smell about 1/4 the motors in Dumaguete. What do you expect anyhow, this is a major college town, a prime market for motor cycle manufactures, especially that cheap noisy junk from China. They don't care if they kill you. They actually prefer it that way as long as they get the cash for the bike first. If not they just repo it and sell it to someone else.
Now , relax, take a deep breath, turn up your oxygen tank a level or 2 and enjoy the scenery.

It is courtesy of 2go and Delta. getting on the ferry in Dumaguete City and breathing fresh ocean air would cause immediate "cold turkey".

We should be happy and thankful that they don't charge extra for that service.

I seem to recall reading somewhere recently that this is normal here ? I had previously been told that Dumaguete was the place to live, because of no pollution ? Now I am not so sure ?

And just who is trying to sell you what by telling you there is no pollution here ? We live in a brand new off the road quite a ways condo style apartment, quite modern for here actaully, farm type land on all four sides, I have to clean the air filters in the air-cons twice a month ! Someone is turning a blind eye to the pollution or has their head in the sand in my opinion. By the way, we are not right in downtown Dumaguete, we are 5-6 kms away.
Seriously, if you have any lung or breathing problems at all this is not the place for you. You'll see that i do not sugar coat things if you read here on ocassion. I tell it like like it is, no PC stuff either. I have been around too long to bother with that garbage. Have a fantastic day.

Have you noticed the lack of old people Filipinos here ? I have. Go figure.
I think you may want to just buy a black towel. Problem solved.

Yeah, and 2 cycle motorcycles spewing blue oil smoke all over, along with the other gasoline engines of pedicabs, motorcycles, cars, trucks, busses, lawnmowers, gas weed whackers, chain saws, yikes ! I am gasping for a breath just thinking about it. Engines of all kinds with bad piston oil rings or leaky valve seals puffing out even more along with their invisable emissions. Oh, and the methane gas, yikes, chicken farts, cow farts, water buffalo farts, horse farts, duck farts, monkey farts, goat farts, dog farts, cat farts, geicko farts, turtle farts, do worms fart ?, birds farting and droping poop all over, holy smokes batman ! Oh yeah, here's a true story. Had a neighbor in the U.S.A. that died of bat poop fumes from his attic. Swear to God, true story. Oh I almost forgot, one of the biggest polluters of all time, man farts, and yes you ladies"" too , now you know you do, I have heard you in the grocery store. ewww :o(
I don't know much about the ocean so you divers have to tell me about fish farts, clam farts, I have seen the bubbles but have never actually witnessed where they come from. I am pretty sure the fish and things poop in the ocean though, unless they sneak ashore at night. Oh the humanity of it all ! Oh oh a think a spider just went by , something is wafting in the air that is somewhat unfamiliar.
Gasp, cough, choke, sputter, help me, I have fallen and I can't get up. Oh that cursed volcano spewing out those fumes that smell like rotten eggs sulphur again. We are definitely doomed. No wait, one of my neighbors is alive ! Eureka ! They are getting ready to cook dinner over a plastic bag of oling( charcoal) again, I see the soot now landing on our laundry. Whew, I am pooped. Oh no.
