Unfortunately, it is our new place. The plot thickens, it appears that this guy is NOT the owner at all, of the land next to ours, he is the manager of a business in town. The Owner is apparently quite influential and i guess this was the reason for the BC to hold a while. Azon and I will meet with the Owner tonight as he has rung her at her office, he says that he was unaware of any personal problem with us and certainly not me , there was a problem over boundary lines last year but he thought this was resolved. As an Absent landlord of the Adjoining property he should be involved directly. The land was purchased to provide management houses for is management personnel, his plans have not been approved yet, so lets hope we can sort this out. The Barangay Captain has told us that the owner will not want any problems escalating so maybe, I will go cap in hand with a bottle as suggested. I certainly do not want any ongoing issues, so I will bite my tongue as long as I can. it also seems this manager guy is not to well liked or respected in the area but not normally anti foreigner. maybe I spooked him when I took the problem head on to him I will let Azon do the talking and just listen for the mood change. Update as it happens, As usual here, many, thanks, for the Humorous caring and honest replies from a much missed bunch of friends Regards JP
The one I have was shipped complete from Poland, easily findable on any search engine. A few foreigners over the time I've been here, have been responsible for deaths of locals by hooking up their fences/grills to mains power, they are still paying for it one way or another I suspect. Mine works off DC, a 12v battery recharged by a solar cell. The amplified power of 4500-9000v( 2 different settings) is 'pulsed' about once every 1 sec, which thus 'grabs and releases' in the cycle. Both myself and my builder's electrician that set it up initially, both got zapped by it, after being thrown 5-10 feet back, I can tell you that the pain starts to subside from your hand to your shoulder after around 4-5 hours.
No there was a transformer When I said my fence was hooked up to 110 volt I meant the 110 volt in the US, it was a transformer package. It was not a matter of just hooking it up to an outlet...hahahah. I am not sure what the laws are here, remember I was working with animals before animal had more rights than humans in the US. Interesting I have been shocked here a couple of times here myself after doing some electrical work and only found it to be a tingling sensation...but one I immediately want to stop happening. Are the shocks here a little less fatal?
I am all for electrified fences. Has anyone seen where to buy the pulsing sending unit and insulators ? I prefer to buy one here vs. having one come from the States and then having to use a converter. I have had many in the past for horses, cattle, sheep(no commnets please.:p), and pesky neighbors, including their dogs, cats, kids, intruders, and so on. Semper paratus !
I had my mother send mine, its SOLAR powered, Very strong, I thought I turned it off and was working on the fence and got my hair into it, felt like a board hit me in the back of my head. The cost was $ 145 plus shipping, any farmers stores has them. The insulators I used here was just garden hose cut at 3 inches and slid over the wire. I left a few in the US , car battery operated 12 V fence chargers, 110 v chargers, There is also one that uses 4 c batteries, dont be fooled as it is hard hitting. The reason for the solar I got sent here years ago, was to avoid the batteries and the 110 converter, This solar is very strong and does not cost any to operate. Plus it works on a brownout. I dont use it much anymore, just sits in the carport for few years now. Dont want to sell it, Have another place I might use it at. Thought better say that b4 the wheels start turning
Thanks for the reminder on the solar power/ battery. Been busier than a termite in a Yo-Yo lately. I had those styles also. If I find an electronic whiz kid/person here all I need is an ignition coil off an older car/truck engine, a pulsing device( hence a simple electronic gizzmo), and a battery. My battery powered one used to last a month even in a cold climate and could do a mile of wire easily. Gee, another project. I migheven need a helper someday to keep up with all this retirement. I have a great positive story about a Barangay Capitain that took my side 100% on something. Befotre I post I need time to spell it out carefully. I'll be seeing a local lawyer friend of mine today anyhow and I'll ask for his advice. When someone starts someting with this old Vet, I will finish it, not a threat at all, just a personal statement of my opinion. Have a fantastic day, lock and load, hold your head up high but your butt down as required.
Lesson Learned. Last night i learned some lessons. 1. loose a little face gracefully. 2. Gain a little face, ( not Smiling too much) 3. Never trust fully, family ( even when paying them) 4.The sugar approach can work. 5 Always talk to the right person. seems the 2 nephews we employed to look after the lot in our absence, had a little business going using our lot. burning Rubbish and some clandestine transport work for others rubbish. it was on my Unscheduled Visit that I found neither of them there, just these other workers from the adjacent lot, however on meeting the owner and gifting him a bottle of 18 year old Scotch we solved the problem in a short and to me, a successful time. He was happy at the way his land was clean and rubbish removed with out inconveniencing his employee who lived on the next lot. he told us he had no Idea that his workers were using other peoples land to further their own benefits, ( not sure I can believe that but!) less walking and thus not so many trips and more leisure time. I had to apologise to the manager of his about my initial reaction to what I saw happening( on reflection I felt it was a little OTT) and in return he apologised for his words to me. He was unaware I was home and took it that as he had family permission ( only from the nephews not us) to do what had been done, all was OK, then, This tall long nose arrives and starts to question things. The owner quickly put him Straight, It is Mr or name with out derogatory terms. I asked the BC why he was reluctant to act on our problem and it was the owner that answered, well it was better to come to me on this, now, here we are talking, I will leave you all to arrive at what goes on here. No matter, i have said my piece, they know I am approachable BUT i can bite too. I have assurances it will not continue but have made a concession that they may use the well for water as long as the gate is unlocked usually between 6am and 4pm, I do not want to see or hear of fence climbing again. The BC has assured me he will be keeping an eye on that I doubt very much this will happen. I told them that if things happen again I will put 2 of my nastier dogs up there, I am not into electric fences but thanks for the advice, so i hope we have nipped this in the Bud. I am sure that the family have realised I will not be messed with and I hope the BC will also be a little better at hearing me, when I ask for some help, I don't mind losing face and apologizing where needed. I have, I think, been charatable on this issue, I have accepted all the return appologies with a quiet smile., The nephews well, we will deal with them tonight. It will cost us food but we need to get them to Understand if they want work, and there will be 6/7 months more it has to be done with trust. There will be work on the build for quite a few in that area. lets hope they will have learned from this.I know I have. We all shook hands had a cool SMB and went our Way I have always told of my faith in the family but here we live and learn. thank you all for your imput. JP.
