    I don't know.
    Hi,
My name Is Cam, been in Duma for some time now and lurking on the forum, first post.

I am looking for someone with local knowledge to show me the shore dives around Dumaguete/Dauin.
I want to dive everywhere at least once so I know for future reference, I don't want to pay a resort 1000php+ for this as I have all required gear including compressor at my house.

I will supply full tanks, transport and dive gear if you need to borrow it.
you just need knowledge of local dive sites, some free time preferably in the mornings and you get to do some diving for free.

Also if anyone knows a local who may be interested in this I would be prepared to offer a small amount compensation for their time.

    Thanks.

Cam, I dont know where you are from, but to pay a good dive guide 1000 Pesos to show you the good shore dives?? That is a bargain..Hope you find a local Philippino who will go with you..There are many 'freelancers'around.
What is your dive experience level ??
.Remember, you get what you pay for..miguel

ps I am a foreigner Divemaster in this area for the past 15 years...

    Thanks for the reply,
Im more after a diver with local knowledge just to show me the spots with the Idea being we help each other out. maybe I didn't make it that clear.
Im sure I will find someone around who is up for some free diving.... or maybe I'll come across a freelancer you speak of, there is always a way.
Im a DM also, plus decompression training, technical wreck, gas blending and light commercial dive industry for about 10 yrs.
now I just dive for fun
my work is still related although its staying part time/hobby level now, I service regs/other gear, refurbish vintage gear, compressor overhauls etc.
cheers again and I'll keep looking.

Hi Cam..I also worked in light commercial diving and equip servicing in Canada, and other parts of the world..Now I just fun dive too (but even get paid !!)
    Just a few notes on the local dives;
Dauin car wreck and banca wreck and north sanctuary are beach accessible.
Dauin sanctuary south is not.(unless you want a long walk)
House reef of El-Dorado (Luca sanctuary) , house reef of Pura Vida, and Bonnet's corner(in between banca wreck and Pura Vida) are.
Mainit (for me one of the best drift dives)could be a shore dive, but would require a long walk.
    Masaplod norte and sur are.

A local DM will probably have access to a small boat so you can do non beach accessible dives.
Make sure to dive at Apo, Sumilon, and Siquijor..some great dives there.
I live in Dauin area and am often in town to shop ,have a hamburger and a beer or two..PM me if you want to meet up..Miguel

    Thanks for the info Miguel!
I have dived the car wreck and the sanctuary there but as yet haven't found the other sites,
I did come across a website with gps points though so If i can work out how to use that feature on my phone that might be of some help.
I have dived Apo a lot, stayed there for a couple months last year when a friend was working there and I did my DM on siquijor so I know that well also.
I would like to get out to sumilon at some point, I took the boat to liloan the other day and rode my bike up to cebu, passed sumilon otw, I did not realise it was so close so might have to make a trip of it some time.
I will send you a PM

Hi Cam im a former dive professional and now I just dive for fun. Im a resident of the area and dove the popular sites to many times. I would love to do some dive exploration with you I have my own gear and would be willing spilt cost with you on any adventure we have. I have done a lot of research on dive sites no one visits around Negros Oriental. I've also made contact with many boat operators and Filipinos familiar with possible great sites that I only got to snorkel because I lacked a good dive buddy. Let me know if your interested.
