i thought this was like the FDIC in the states, an insured guarentee independent of the individual institution

The PDIC is the government promising you won't be out that amount if the bank goes t*ts up. What do you think will happen if it is the government legislating that they get a percentage of your money? I doubt they are going to pay you back what they stole.

To avoid this unpleasant situation should it ever occur, you can still put your money in an old sock and keep it under your mattress.

Could be a bit too obvious for the common burglar.

Don't tell anyone, but I keep mine under the mattress and put the mattress in my sock drawer.

When I moved into my rented house, every drawer was labelled: e.g. Sock drawer, face mask drawer, etc. I had to use them, I cannot bear empty drawers, so that is why, after FILLING my 'face mask drawer' with my face masks (IN CASE they were EVER needed  ), I used the 'sock drawer to store my mattress.

Btw, my asawa does use socks here - but she has her own drawer for them (it was labelled 'sock drawer' but I relabelled it sock/FACE MASK drawer  ).

I bet your friend told you to ask me that.

But to be serious, I keep them in my drawers (panties) - it is one of my many oddities.

going on seven years here and i have never lived anyplace that had drawers, or closets for that matter. had to look it up. well i have all my worldly possessions on shelves lining 3 walls of the master bedroom, (which is the only bedroom) i can pirouette 270 degrees and mentally calculate my net worth. we keep masks and thong panties in the same stack since they are somewhat interchangeable (be careful with free size granny panties which obtruct vision) my asawas thongs are rated shabby95, but the other 5 percent is worth waiting for. btw i hear ceres will start next monday equiring male passengers to wear a trojan95 condom for the whole trip. they are for sale in the cr along with a package of rubber bands to keep them from sliding off for us older gentlemen. the rubber bands come in three sizes with instructions to go to the next larger size if mr happy turn blue. you might want to ask yourself what this has to do with pesos. i dunno.
