Hey people from Dumaguete, the case regarding Limakaichiong sitting as Congressman in the first district of the province hasn't been finally decided yet. Do you want her to sit as congressman of this province?

She might have good ideas about improving the first district, but the fact that I heard that her fmaily poured in millions to let her win in the elections put the integrity of her election to doubt? Do you want dirty politics to reign?

So who do you think should be the congressman/woman for the first district? Can you honestly say that the other parties were running a clean honest campaign?

That's the problem with Philippine politics. Unless there will come a time when you can run an election without money, then it's hard to consider any politician as clean. Another election should be conducted in the first district.

And I know that her family has plenty of secrets, and posing as benevelont in our society. According to former Congressman Teves, secrecy breeds a lot of corruption, connivance and more evils...Expose them!!!

Transparency in government is a necessity for a democracy. Not the easiet thing to do in Philippine politics. It takes a great deal of courage, resourcefullness and commitment to honesty to bring specific acts of corruption to light for all to see. Not just once, but on an ongoing basis along with evidence.

Echir, the election is over and we have to move forward. We need to support our elected officials and pray (hard) that they will do the right thing for our community, for our country. On the other hand we also need to be vigilant on how they are doing as elected officers. Observe and check/rate them as elected officials, not their personal affairs and families. If you have an opinion/issue that needs to be address by our officials, let them know about it and own your concerns. "she/he said", "i heard" is not productive. Transparency goes both ways.

Maybe Limkaichiong is living in a glass house. Her credentials are quite enviable: studied in La Salle, one of the most expensive universities in the Philippines. After college she would just while away time and play mahjong in Manila and use plenty of vehicles...wow quite enviable. From what I have seen she doesn't know any hardship at all, while some people in Dumaguete could not even afford to buy a new motercycle once every five years, for her replacing her car every two years is a breeze.

And do you think our country is a democracy? Maybe for the family of Limkaichong, it is. But for other people it is not. Many Filipinos are living in hardships and poverty because we have families like the family of Limkaichong.

    Echir,
NEWSflash! We ALL live in a glass house.
Your comments and issues with the elected official is PERSONAL. I have yet to see you commenting on her WORK as an elected official.

I'm assuming that was directed at me.
I've stated on this forum before that while the Philippines shows up in "the books" as a democracy it is in reality an oligarchy and has been for many, many years.

Can you find I find me a website for filipino guys, young and old looking for a blue eyed blond Caucasian girls? Preferably 18 – 22 yrs of age.

You will never find these things in America. Exact reason why USA is different from PI.

One can never compare the culture in America vs the PI.

or never compare the culture in the boondocks vs Orange County.
