dumaguete a MECCA for Expats?

According to a survey, Dumaguete indeed is getting the most number of expats compared to any parts of the country. I think it is very true. Just try going downtown. Everywhere you look and everywhere you go you see "mga puti" with their Filipina friends and partners. That is good because that means they are spending their dollars here. LOL

May I just remind you, that a lot of us here spend Pounds and Euros.
Maybe when the % count is finished, we can do a % count of the origins of the foreigners here.

Agreed! To give a rough idea, my immediate neighborhood in Bacong consisted of:

6 Americans
1 Brit
1 New Zealander
1 Norwegian

and 20 or so Filipino head of household.

The results of the recent official census may show the exact breakdown.

Sure, the vast majority of westeners in Duma are americans, hence the perception that all caucasian are from that part of the world (added to the recent historical ties between the two countries). The lack of basic knowledge of geography is not helping either, with most people not knowing were the various countries and continents are placed on the map
I would like to start up kind of a census of westeners using this forum to establish their country of origin, just to satisfy my curiosity and that of others i believe......
I start up.....I'm from Italy, city of Turin, Europe.

 

I always laugh when a local person refers to a foreigner as "An American from "(Fill in country HERE)".

Hi Joe, you know I have been called, Australian, South African even Swedish with Good English. Once or twice I have been asked what State I am from:D When I tell people I am a true Blue Englishman they stand and stare. Maybe they don't understand my accent. Funny because I don't consider I have an accent.
