This is one of the places I happen to find when searching for fishing spots...last Sunday I brought my family with me to marvel on its beauty. This is a beach known only to some fishermen in Siquijor (they don't even have a name for it). The beach is cradled by towering cliffs and the only way to get there is climbing around rocks or by boat. I gave the kids the opportunity to give the beach a name and they say, Isolated Spirit...then so be it. :D The place is beyond magical and is another reason why I will keep going back to Isla del Fuego (Siquijor). Caught several bait-fishes (tunnies) by trolling a fly with a light rod, baits caught were used to catch 2 Dorados. I also used Yozuri trolling lures to boat 1 mackerel and 2 skipjack tunas. Music + trolling is nice but then you can't hear your reel clicker if it is asking for some fishy attention. Thank you everyone for watching... happy to share my fishing diaries with y'all and am very humbled by the feedback.

This one is now open for public and we are inviting snorkelers and divers to visit Banilad Marine Sanctuary. Please do not miss Barracuda Alley. The proceeds will go to the maintenance of the sanctuary and to fund more MPAs in the future. There are resident turtles, school of jacks, sweetlips, seahorses and an abundance of colorful reef fishes. The massive jacks in the sanctuary is something to behold, if seen in their element, one can see why these bulldogs of the sea are one of the best angler fighters. It is good they thrive there so they can spawn more GTs for the fishing community.
This is the 4th iteration of Dumaguete's Fishing Festival and this time we chose the target fish to be the needlefish (locally Balo) This friendly competitions amongst local fishermen build camaraderie between fishermen and the authority (Bantay Dagat) and at the same time a get-together to make sure that their voices are heard. This gathering is also an opportunity for the Bantay Dagat and environmental groups to address their concerns with the people who are living off from the resources of the sea. Most of their catches were caught outside the Marine Protected Areas (sanctuaries) which we lobbied and even had fights with the locals to install, now the fishermen themselves are the ones valiantly protecting the MPAs because they can see the discrepancy of the catch rates near the sanctuaries and away from it. I personally would like to thank the City Government of Dumaguete for listening to a private citizen and making this marriage of tourism, friendship and a platform for environmental conservation a reality in our city. FISHING THAILAND My wife Jana and my Bangkok-based sister Giselle cooked up a plan to send me to Thailand for some fishing and urban and countryside tour. I witnessed Thailand's amazing culture and the people I met there are just as friendly as Filipinos. I have a ton of stuff to share about the trip but I have always been very lazy with words. I hope this video will speak for me and the fun I had.
