    The Sangguniang Panlungsod members of Dumaguete City grilled city chief of police, Supt. James Goforth, on the safety and security of residents after three shooting incidents in less than two weeks, with no suspects apprehended or cases filed in court.

    Goforth presented the crime volume in Dumaguete before the SP. He said that in 2013, there were 33 firearms-related incidents in Dumaguete, and this increased by five or 38 incidents in 2014.

    The Philippines is not learning from the US's "War on Drugs" mistakes. Legalization, regulation and taxation is the way to deal with the drug problem. Take it out of the hands of the criminal organizations. (Though I will say that I don't have much faith in government, which I see as basically a legitimized mafia. Pick your poison I guess.)
