    I would be sure that if the wnds are wrong for the sea approach the aircrft wont just turn around and divert somewhere else. Its expensive to do that. If its a permissable landing towards the sea because of wind direction I am sure that is what will happen.

    Thanks for the responses and all much as I'd suspected. It is quite incredible and frustrating that a Pmulti-million project has not been planned properly. Don't suppose anyone's head will role as that does not seem to be the result of incompetence here.
