Well, it is proof that you worked for something long term and closed the deal, you probably did learn something, you can handle (thus participate in) bureaucracy, it proves that a certain group of people, ie your professors, agree that you can think critically to some extent and have a decent enough of an IQ to graduate. Some fields like engineering likely require an IQ higher than the median 85 seen here (lead poisoning in the rice is suspected here). This is more true for UP and Silliman, less for mom and pops.
