If they are then Aquino invited them in. Geological survey, securing the rights, moving in a rig, wildcat drilling of a well where you drill, stop, analyze, drill more, plug back, fracture or other completion technique, bring in storage tanks for oil and salt water, doesn't happen in just a few months. Totally leaving aside other logistical needs like disposal of drilling waste and disposal of the waste water. I never looked into whether the Philippines has refineries, from all I've ever heard they import refined fuels. The joke would be on whoever drilled an oil well. Natural gas would need to go to a gas plant to strip out the various parts, propane, butane, pentane, hexane, ethane and their iso counterparts.
Next thing that comes to mind is which senator is partner in this well?

From reading all the posts here about the various options and possibilities of outcomes for Duterte. All of these outcomes appear to result in us getting screwed and ending up with the shitty end of the stick that was used to stir up this mess.
One good result from all this is it has gotten my wife interested in the way the Government works. She wanted Duterte elected but now is afraid that was a bad idea.-

Is any one looking at Chiang Ma Thailand as part of their exit plan. I have a few friends that moved there. First comment is that internet works. Does anyone else have other informtion. If Duterte continues in his anti US positions as noted in thread main post, whether it is just his ranting or real, is just seems necessary to do more research and preparation for an exit plan of the Philippines. Yesterday demonstrations in front of the US Embassy in Manila turned violet... PNP against Filipinos but soon the US will get the blame. It does not seem like many of Deturte's domestic enemies have fare well lately My concern is how long will it take to have individual American Citizens pinpointed as enemies of the Philippines or Filipino people?

I think he did what he needed to do for the Filipino people. He negotiated with China on a deal that would have ended with huge tragedy if he had followed thru with the US and pursued the use of force which is the only thing the US was offering. His choice was war or negotiation, I think he did what was best for everyone concerned. The US does not have a very good record of standing by its allies or winning wars which, in spite of it's superior forces, has not won a war since WWII. They have however started quite a few and even want to get involved where they don't have a dog in the fight, Syria. Where you need a scorecard to keep up with all the players for several different teams. All fighting for what? The spread of democracy? National Security? Sorry, I no longer buy those lines of BS.
Duterte could be at risk of assassination from US.-
