Few things are fair here when it comes to Filipino versus Alien. It sounds like your gf was far more savvy about the rules than you were and you're the stooge that has been set up. I presume you funded all costs of the return here and all living costs now, but alarm bells are ringing that you are being primed as an eternal cash cow. There seems to be a connection between your current situation and the grief you are getting from your landlord.
perhaps..thanks for the advice...connection? Unsure. just looking for advice and thankfully a few people with brains were able to give an adequate response and recommend steps to take. thanks!
Well there really are no steps you can take now. Your best bet is to trick her into going back to the US on her own free will and then giving her the bombshell she will never leave the US again with your child. But judging from what I have seen here, that might be a hard task to pull off.
we'll see..obviously have some decisions to make..just would hate to not be able to see my daughter again.
Steveb155 Better have a good look at “crimes against women Philippines act, I have just came back from a hearing / anulment and have seen the inside of a local jail, re crimes against women, no police interview, all the woman has to do is make a complaint true or false and you will be arrested (mandatory) better keep P120k handy for bail if the courts puts together a case against you. Ah apparently it’s illegal to be arrested on a week end like I was.
Like I said, few things are fair here when it comes to differences between Filipino and Foreigner. The Crimes against Women Act is invariably used by a Filipina against a foreigner, rarely if ever against another Filipino. It is, in effect, a licence to scam. False allegation and phoney accusation are endemic here, lawyers rub their hands with glee if they get the case because they know they will most likely win and be able to land the foreigner with a fat legal bill. Evidence, proof, reason and logic do not play any part. As a foreigner you are on a hiding to nothing. It is just one of the many issues on an ever growing list of unsavoury practices that is making this country less and less attractive for many.
Actually some pinoy’s are hit with the same law, when I was at my first hearing my atny said that there were four cases that day, me being the only foreigner, one pinoy had his second visit in front of the Judge, the judge scorned the woman so bad in front of all the onlookers, that she will have her husband back there again and again she was quick to reply no your honour, the poor man I am guessing had spent 2 x two months in prison awaiting trial, as I think he would not have been able to put up the P120k bail.
