I am no expert at any sport - monopoly is my limit - but I would not say "comfortable". Had aliens landed and stopped the game after an hour, they would have given Denmark the win. I have no statistics to back this (and am too tired still after being up until 7 a.m. to check) but England has a relatively young team and so have the fitness to play at a high standard for longer. This may be a factor on Sunday where, I read, Italy has two important players with a combined age of 70 - experts here could tell me the combined age of the England players who will probably be the ones to face them, but would it be nearer 50?. And the best goal of the match - and an outstanding one - was Denmark's (their first one!), with man of the match being the Danish goalkeeper. So "comfortable" is a bit of an insult to a very classy team - that match was worthy of the Final.
So if the country with the longer name wins, that is a good omen for England! I am, therefore, very glad we don't play as the UK (that being the longest country name in the world!). UK = The United Kingdom Of Great Britain And Northern Ireland.
Congrats to Italy they beat England on penalty after 1-1 in ordinary and extra time. The team who play the tournament's best football fully deserved
Yes I agree. An amazing turnaround for a team that didn't even qualify for the 2018 World Cup. Grappa all round - Cheers
New coach in 2018 Roberto Mancini makes a big difference, told the Italian team that their goal was to win European Championship in 2020, now they did, a great coach who change their playing style with a focus on offensive and entertaining football with success
Italy played some good football, had England chasing shadows. Experience players maybe past their prime. England much younger players but inexperienced. Looking forward to the world cup. C'mon England.
Do those more knowledgeable than I am about the subject think the selection of penalty takers for England looked odd? Where were Shaw, Sterling, Grealish? They put in a 19 year old to take the 5th penalty in the final of a major competition! Also, substitutions made very late - I know it is strange I say this, as I don't know much about the subject, but surely Grealish should have been on much sooner. How many millions does the Manager earn? Anyway, best team won.
It was all alone Coach Southgate's decision who should kick penalties, Grealish has been criticized for not kicking, he says he was ready to kick, it was Southgate's decision. Many wonders why a 19 year old Saka should take the last kick, big pressure on that young lad, the late replaced players almost did not manage to touch the ball before the penalty competition
