There is a big difference. One is illegal, the other is not.

Arranged marriages are still a thing and maturity levels of Filipino men are, on average, much lower than that of Western men. There is a huge difference between a 24 year old Filipino man and a 50 year old Western man.

In the Philippines someone has to be willing to report the crime, file a case and follow through. The reason most Filipino men don't get arrested is because they are primarily screwing and molesting family...and family doesn't report family. They sure as sh*t will report a foreigner though. It isn't unfair, it is just the way these things work. It is exactly the same in the US.

If you don't want to get arrested for diddling kids....don't f'n diddle little kids. Simple as that. Doesn't matter if the laws are "fair" or not...just keep your perverted little pecker away from minors and all will be good.

Cebu - Two Americans and their Filipina accomplices were caught and arrested on Monday after 8pm in Asturias, with two 14-year-old twin sisters. - klajoo.com - Asturias Police Chief Inspector Roger Quijano says the two Americans, John Herman Carder Jr. (76) and Jim Dean Syfert (52), together with 19-year-old Filipina Frailine Mae Sagabala, were lodged in a rented house in Sta , Lucia
The girls said that the suspects offered them two mobile phones and 500 PHP each for the purchase of clothing, full scholarships and the installation of electricity in their parents' home last October 26, if they agreed to work as house assistants for them , Neighbors had informed the homeowner, who came to his house with the police. One of the Americans was wearing only underpants while drinking alcohol with the two minors. Quijano says Sagabala is the companion of Syfert, both from Pinamungajan, who a month ago came to visit Asturias. The two Americans and the Filipina are being charged with trafficking, since their victims were minors it is not possible to make a bail. If found guilty, they will face a life imprisonment and a fine of 2 million PHP to 5 million PHP. KR 01.11.2018 - 3:25

Seems like a grooming project of these 3 idiots. Luckily they only had the girls for 5 days before getting busted.

"With"? As in they were drinking together? Yeah, they were. These three sound like real scum. Hopefully they were caught before they were able to take advantage of the children (sounds like they caught them just before they were getting ready to). I would normally say to give them the death sentence...but a Filipino jail is much more fitting punishment.

@ChMacQueen See, it isn't just foreigners getting charged with these crimes. I do think the parents should also be charged with a crime as well. It seems their greed allowed them to pimp out their daughters. Parents have a legal and moral obligation to protect their children from scum like this...and they failed miserably at doing so.

    I don't know.
If he's smart he'll say the Shahada and claim to be a Muslim fast. Then they can't touch him because if Mohamed did it with Aisha (53 and 9) then all Muslims can do the same.

Applying the morals of today to historical figures of the past is disingenuous at best. Yeah, Muhammad was a monster by today's standards...but were any of our cultural historical figures any better if we applied the morals of today to them? (Answer: No, they weren't any better.) The same can be applied to the different cultures around the world today. We might find that many Muslim countries are full of horrible people doing horrible things...but would likely feel the same about us. Who is right? Given the massive success and overall better mental health of the West...I would say we are. But I have to admit I'm a bit biased on what I consider "success" and "mental health". A person raised in a Muslim country may have a completely different definition of success and mental health or not find those things nearly as important.

I believe Islam, like other Abrahamic religions, says that their followers have to follow the laws of man of where they reside. So a pedo Muslim in the US or the Philippines would not be allowed to act on their disgusting pedo desires.

Ouch. Maybe they are evil people and they had the worst of intentions. But consider that this as described (sans hanging out in your underwear drinking beer with the supposed help) is something any foreigner not paying attention could run into.

The take-away is to be highly vigilant against being in a situation where you might be alone with minors who aren't your children. And this could be very difficult for some.

I recall a thread recently where someone (supposedly family of a friend) was arrested while accompanying minors on a bus trip. Maybe evil intentions, maybe not. There are also a lot of foreigners here who are raising children but have never become a legal guardian. These people could be wide open to problems.

I wonder how often minors end up working in a foreigner's house because of a hire by a live-in partner while the foreigner pays no attention. Hiring minors as helpers isn't uncommon for locals. I have never paid much attention myself to helpers hired by the people close to me and I wouldn't be surprised if one of them was underage. And sometimes those helpers would bring their children. Sometimes those children would sleep over for a night or two.

Of course, nobody would think to tell a lie here. You could easily get into a bad situation here just by an accusation. Getting cleared still wouldn't erase the headlines and the time you spent in jail because you couldn't get bail.
