    Even if the 3 pin plug-ins were a common thing to see in the Philippines a ground wire wouldn't be ran 99% of them. That extra wire costs $$ and 99% of Filipino are too kuripot to drop money on something they don't see an immediate benefit from.

    A little off the subject, but this got me thinking about whether a neutral line might lead to the noise or hiss you hear in a Karaoke system. This article talks about ground loops as a cause (not the only cause). It also mentions how a UPS's can help so not completely unrelated.

    Noise can also be introduced by low quality extension cords and plugging different equipment in out of phase (turn the plugs so the live wire is on the same side of all the equipment).

    This one has made me WONDER... :o o:
    In Australia using a 3-Pin Plug there is NO WAY you can turn the Plug so as the wires lead to the incorrect feed.
    Using a 2-Pin Plug, you can turn the Plug either way, what is the logic behind this? If there are 2 wires, surely each has its own purpose (I am used to DC Auto Wiring using a Negative & Positive wire so am drawing my line of thought from there)
    So; HOW does this AC 2-Wire system work in comparison to the Australian 3-Wire system (Neutral - Positive & Earth) when you can turn the 2-Pin Plug around without shorting your electrical connection? :o o:

    Not in my house. On many of my plugs and appliances I notice that one side is slightly wider than the other so it only fits one way. That's a sonufabich for my TV as the plug is wired wrong. I had to adapt and overcome as the TV does not work if not plugged in the right way. (Used an adapter that had both male prongs the same width so I could reverse the current flow.)

    I bought all mine from Citi Hardware and you can plug in either way, was told; "We use the same as in America Sir"... Seems Crazy if you ask me :whistling:

    Yep. Here is a pic of a "polarized" 2 prong plug sold in Walmart in the US for use on a TV. Look closely and notice that the prong on the right has an enlarged end so it won't fit the wrong way into the socket. Obviously the clerk has not purchased a TV in the US that used a polarized 2 prong plug as he knows not what he is saying.

    I keep away from electrics over here, just had a look at two flat pronged plug, both prongs are identical how does one know which is live or neutral?
    BTW goes in both ways
