I have had things shipped to me by EMS to avoid Customs charges (like Tablet PC and other electronics). If your packagae has a stated value, and you ship with DHL or FEDEX, it can get held up in Customs (as stated above) and you will probably have to pay duty. With EMS, it goes to the Post Office so you only pay the standard P40 duty. I learned about this from the guy at the desk at DHL
Thanks to you and all the other good repliers. By EMS do you mean Express mail service? That is just regular USA post office no with extra express charges. I think that can be signature required, correct? Thanks.
i've received two packages via EMS, one from china and the other from korea. i had them delivered to the bacong post office and they texted me when the packages arrived. on pkg had a value of $300 and there was no duties. it's more fun in da fils!!! norm : ))~
What was in the packages? How did they get your phone number? If what you say is true, all I can say is you were very lucky. Here is a link that pretty much compares and summarizes your shipping options here and I feel it is pretty accurate: Sending Mail And Packages To The Philippines From The United States
ah... let me add that, i believe it was may, 2012, i was in a hurry for a netbook and a tablet pc and my sister in the usa tried sending them to me using EMS and the post office/EMS refused to take the package cuz of the lithium batteries in the devices. anyone else had that problem? norm : ))~
