Joondalup is a nice area, big mall and lots of shopping and restaurants in the central area - as you probably know. No Filipino restaurants yet, in fact the closest (perhaps the only?) is out in Cannington, on the Albany Hiway (about a forty minute drive). It does a huge amount of business, very busy and good food. Wish we'd get one out here. We live just a very few minutes south of Joondalup, in fact my wife works at Joondalup Hospital...I've been staying out of pubs for years, not as pleasant as they used to be....and like you said drinks are ridiculously expensive. I can get a carton for under $30 and bring it home LOL....why bother paying 10 bucks for one drink and listen to drunken aggro....LOL. Rather listen to my chooks in the backyard...
Joondalup has just about everything the city has, with less traffic. Probably the best location in Perth in my opinion. I'd try it before trying the city. Most people out here are happy with the area. Either way you're going to like it here....don't worry.

The link above is interesting....just in case you haven't heard...

I didnt know Joondalup is listed as one of the best cities to live, my boyfriend never tell me that and i didnt ask. He lives in the lake area and when he said we move to the city, maybe he meant Joondalup city proper? will have to ask him about it via skype when he comes home from work tonight. My boyfriend doesnt like filipino food but we made a deal that i am allowed to cook filipino food in our house lol but he wont eat it. As a revenge i told him i hate haggis and will never eat it!! he is scottish by the way. Its good that your wife works in Joondalup Hospital, i dont know if i can find work there but will try hard. We will probably not stay at pubs, my boyfriend complains about his man boobs, double chin and beer belly so will probably walk around parks or swim instead of staying at pubs lol
I reli appreciate the infos that you posted, thanks a lot!!

    Hi Anna,
Ninja and Vic are right. You don't need to pay an agency, just do it yourself. You can download all the forms from immigration website.

    Information page
    Prospective Marriage Visa (Subclass 300)

Informations and Booklets can be downloaded from this page
Information Forms and Booklets - Applications & Forms - Visas & Immigration

This is link to download fiancee visa application form
    http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/47sp.pdf

Doing it yourself is not too difficult, you just have to make sure to cross all the "T"s and dot all the "I"s

Please excuse my writing in Cebuano. I feel that I can express myself better to Anna.

Wala ra man ko ni agi pa ug agency, sayon lang man basta imoha ra jud kompletohon ang tanan nga mga paperworks. Nagkinahanglan man pud gud na ug Personal appearance didto sa embassy. Maka save pa ka ug kwarta. With God's help, naapprove ra ang among visa in less than 7 weeks.

Like what you've said, makahadlok ning mo langyaw ta sa abroad samot na kung wala kay mga paryente. Pero sa kadugayan maka adjust ra ka. Ma homesick jud hinuon ka pag bag o pa ka maabot dinhi. Daghan kaayong mga butang nga imong ma miss, like foods, christmas/new year celebration etc. Pero daghan ra man pud mga Filipino dinhi nga willing mutabang nimo kung unsay imong mga problema. Just be careful lang in choosing your Pinay friends because some can be a bad influence.

When your fiancee said that you can cook Filipino foods in the house, did he know about dried fish?
Most Australian banas prefer their filipino wives to cook dried fish outside because they think it is BAHO JUD .
Hangyoa na lang imong darling nga dili ra sya moreklamo. hehehe

Dali ra kang makakita ug trabaho basta dili lang ka choosy. I got a job in less than 3 months since I arrived here, and got my Driver's licence in less than a year. The most difficult thing for me to adjust is the climate because the daily temperature variation is much greater here. The difference between the daily maximum and minimum temperatures can be as much as 20°C

It will be an exciting adventure for you to come here in Australia. Treat your aussie man like a king and he will treat like his princess.

    May God bless you.

    Cheers,
    Pren

This is our story as told by my bana kabana banana

    Hi Prenilie,

Thank you for the links that you posted, i have learned a lot from reading it. Well i think its better if i do it myself but i still have to wait after my boyfriend talks with the agency in perth.

less than 7 weeks? wow kanindot jud ana. I will complete all the paperworks and double check them hoping my visa will be approve as fast as yours. medyo gimingaw nako sa akong boyfriend, mga 1 year na wla mi magkita and i want to see him soon.

Cge i will choose my friends puhon if naa nako diha. My boyfriend said na magpatas-anay kuno ang mga pinoy diha and bad influence sila, is that reli true? Ive heard a lot about crab mentality and all.

Hahaha he said he cant tolerate dried fish, he hates the smell.

i reli hope makakita ko og trabaho, i will not be choosy. What about working in a minesite? what can you say about that?

yes it will be an adventure, its my first time to go out of the country. He already treats me like a princess and i would like to treat him like i king but he doesnt like that. he would always say please dont serve me lol

God bless you too Prenilie and your family, thank you for your help

Hi Anna, my two siblings lives in Perth and my cousin live nearby Joondalup. Perth is very beautiful and very clean. I tried to visit my siblings at least once every two years. I live nearby Cleveland, OH and the flight and connection time usually takes me between 30 to 38 hours. Good luck!

Hi Liegh, it will have to be Perth for us since he wants to leave joondalup and transfer to the city. Im looking forward to living in Perth specially now that i hear another high praise of one who had been there, thank you for sharing your view on the city. All we need to do now is process the visa so i can go  yes i need all the luck in the world. You must love your siblings and cousin caus you endured 30 - 38 hours of travel just to be with them. I hate riding a plane by the way so for me its a huge sacrifice to travel that long  Thank you Liegh

Hi Anna, you're welcome. Yes, I have been going to Perth since 1990. Also, my mom lived there too until she passed away 3 years ago. We brought her entire remains back in Sagay City, Negros Occidental for burial. By the way, my siblings and my cousin will be coming home on Oct. 11 of this year. If your fiancee visa will not be complete then, you may want to meet them. This way, you will know someone from there and will not feel a stranger. Just let me know or I can give you their information before you leave for Perth.

Hi Liegh, Im sorry about your mom. My dad passed away 2 years ago and i know how it feels like losing a parent. My sister lives in Cadiz city, thats the next town from Sagay. I've been passing there all the time caus i usually take the Bacolod via San Carlos bus everytime i went to visit my sister and Sagay City is part of their route. Im looking forward to meeting your siblings and cousin. Although i already have 2 co-workers who lives in Perth, having 3 more friends will be great!! Will let you know if my visa will be approved before October 11. Thank you so much

Anna, that is great! Yes, our home is nearby the old City Hall in Sagay. BTW, we all be meeting in Cebu on Oct. 11th, for some sight seeing, and then we all be heading to Sagay City by Oct. 14th. If you happen to be in Phil. by then, I am inviting you to my sister's big bash (60th) birthday party on Oct. 19 which will be held in Balay Kauswagan. This way, you will meet all of them. You can spend the night with us if you wish to get to know all of them.

I know how it felt to be a stranger in a country that you're not familiar with. I have been there when we came to the US back in 1981. You're talking about huge 'culture shock.' But in the end, it all worked out and glad to have the opportunity to be in the US. Was able to complete my education and have a great professional career.

    Hi Liegh,

I am so excited for your Cebu trip this coming October!! Cebu is a great place for sight seeing, you should try Skywalk Cebu caus its very exciting if you are not afraid of heights that is . I am shy about going to your sister's birthday bash, there will be lots of people and i wouldnt know any of them except you. Maybe after the birthday party we can meet for coffee instead? I only pass by Sagay by bus so i dont know where we can have coffee there so you have to pick the place . I can stay at my sister's place and then will go to Sagay to meet all of you for a day and then go back to Cadiz.

I am so happy that it worked out for you, you completed your education and now have a professional career. I pray that i will be as lucky. It will be hard at the beginning but im looking forward to adjusting and then blending in. I want to thank you for your help and in God's time, will finally get to meet you
