What's up with that?? I don't hear that they are playing for their favorite charity etc.

My friend says the show used to have Joe Average as a contestant, but that's changed for some reason..

    Weird

I'm sure it comes down to nothing more than higher ratings. More people must be tuning in to see their favorite actors/actresses play the game.

Ya I'd assumed that much...the noon shows where they give money away to the average contestant are wildly popular-you'd think it wouldn't be necessary to import actors and politicians-even the mother of the host was a contestant this week! Nuts

Evidently Judy Ann Santos' baby show that used to be in the same time slot wasn't receiving enough viewers .

One day a show a few years ago had a famous male actor here playing for his elderly helper to win a kitchen table set or the like. I mean this guy's super rich-when the camera showed her at her home rooting him on, you could see she was living in a simple hollow block structure with unfinished interior walls / just hollow block! Evidently he'd never paid her enough to allow her to upgrade her living conditions..

The local television programming is not a cultural oddity that I understand, especially when it comes to those "game shows". I would not want to be on there myself. It seems to me that they are laughing "at" the contestants and not with them (even though the contestant might be laughing as well). It seems the freaks (ladyboys, midgets, handicapped in some way) from those shows are the ones that become "famous". (I know that sounds a bit harsh to call them "freaks" but a circus "freak show" is exactly what they are trying to achieve.)

I actually think you are right. No matter where you go, you can see most people poking fun at the friends, Our walks along the Boulavard near the Dumaguete Sign that attracts the Photo Taking has us in Stitches. Seems a Photo is not a Photo without the " Very Usual" Funny takes, the Sense of Humour is strange to say the least but of course if we (The good ole Foreigner) were to laugh and make fun "WOW" and yet, the flamboyancy and camp attitudes are commonplace daily. So it does not surprise me at all when it is on Stage and appears to be a Look at me Ma! thing :clown:
    JMO But........... such is Life.
