Hi Lonestar, I'm quite impressed with the suggestions but I'm afraid we're only staying 4nights /leaving on the 5th day. We're planning to go to Dumaguete for 2 1/2 days and a side trip to Siquijor this January. We're going to Apo Island and Bais. I have arranged a boat with someone named Jane and I'm not sure if the boat is in good condition. I just read this site and found out that the boats from the Tourism is larger and newer. Is it possible to do this with one boat on the same day? Or do we have to do this separately.I'd really appreciate if you can give me suggestions on the best places and what we can squeeze in a short time. I'm also interested in the house where Quezon stayed during WW2. How far is it from the main city?
Why bother? When I was at Alona Beach Panglao I just got a non tiny fishing boat that seated 4 and the boatman comfortably and cost about 1200p. We ended up paying a total of about 2k for a lot of extra time and boating around including going to the coral island and a bit of snorkeling. Why pay the *professional* which is not really any more professional 2-4x more. Not like they are really regulated just as the rest of the country. Only real reason is to try and suck money out of the tourism industry. Maybe you should just wear a shirt that says "I'm a rich tourist". I'd rather save some money so can do more.
Again another stupid idea. So a man can't try and make a living with what he knows and is good at unless he gives the corrupt government a large cut? I assume your also having all the street peddlers arrested as they don't have a business license and are competing vs those who do? How about the sari-sari's w/o a business license? Or those who get a mayor's permit but don't have a proper business permit? Fairly sure we know who you work for now. Heaven forbid a man tries to make his own money without working for some rich snob who takes it all.
