Can you explain that a little better? I'm reading it as you want a link to take you to the most recent post, but not the page the most recent post is on?

    • I was wondering about that too! I was wondering about that too! x 1

    ok, i'll try...
if i'm looking at the group ''recently posted page'' and if i hover over the ''quotes'' thread, 3 little links appear, one of which is 126, which takes me to the top of last page on the thread. Quotes | Page 126 | Dumaguete Info

on some forums, instead of a link to the 126th page, the link would say something like ''last post'' and take me to the last post on the thread (which is on page 126 but the last post made. here's a forum with a tab for the last post on the thread.

i would think this forum software would have that option, you'd just hafta go into options or tools or ??? and find it.

Alright. I think understand now. You want to go to the most recent post made in a thread and not the first message you haven't read yet (or just to the top of the last page of trheads).

That is already possible on the forum. To go to the most recent post:

While in the New/Recent Post tab you have to click on the date under the name of the last person to make a post:
    Screenshot (417).png
(Note: This only works if you are logged in to the forum. Guests do not have this option for some reason.)

If you are on the main forum page you just click the link next to "Latest".
    Screenshot (416).png
(Note: this does work for guests.)

The forum you linked above does not have any "Latest Post" near the thread title/page number for me. The only way I could get to the latest post there was so go to the same area as I posted above here. That forum software is phpBB, which doesn't include a "Latest Post" in the location:

Pretty much identical to DI minus the tiny arrow:
    Screenshot (422).png

I have licenses for Xenforo, vB 4/5 and IPB and none of them have it either, but I'll have a look at the templates and see if adding the link would be possible.

(Unless I'm just way off base here and still not understanding what you are talking about.)

    correcto!

duh... i wasn't aware of that. being more of a reader than a participant, i usually only log on to make a post. i do read one forum that only let's a person view the recent post list if you're logged on and it also has some private threads that require logging on.

it works that way for me too but some forums do have the link to the last post on a thread near the thread title and it's available to guests.

now that i've got my terminology in order : ), i think my request would be a nice touch for guests also.

thanks for putting together a nice forum, wrye...

If it were my forum, I would want it to be a nice place for guests but I would also leave something missing for them because I want them to set up an account and join/ log in to enjoy all the benefits. I would want to sell advertising and it would be easier to show the exposure someone's ad would gain by advertising on the site if people joined and logged in regularly.

thanks for adding that feature, wrye. i see you added a link for the last post on the thread and kept the link for the last page on the thread, which takes you to the 1st post on the last page. something for everyone, eh...

Been away for a few days and it's the first thing I noticed. I like it. It looks very aesthetically clean and bright. Well done!

Just finished upgrading the forum software. Running Xenforo 1.5.7 now.

Some of the bugs fixed in 1.5.7 include:
    • The interface used by admins to update user passwords has been improved to prevent accidental changes due to autofill.
    • Improved usage of cURL in the PayPal upgrade processor to ensure that requests are still successful before the TLS 1.2 transition is required.
    • Remove template editor border radius due to Chrome bug with horizontal scrolling.
    • Add autofocus to the full page login form.
    • Prevent image BB codes from being rendered when they couldn't possibly work.
    • Fix issues with the BB code <-> HTML conversion process involving lists within alignment tags.
    • Improved indication when your search failed or did not run as expected due to containing censored words.
    • Allow case insensitive highlighting of non-Latin characters in search results.
    • Limit nesting in the HTML to BB code conversion to prevent stack overflow errors.
    • Fix various issues with thread tag importing.
    • Fix for template modification disabling not working correctly when imported via style XML.

Nothing major here but if you notice something not working let me know here.

Media Gallery software was also upgrade to v1.5.6.

(Instead of a new thread for every software upgrade I will just keep one running thread. Merged all the previous upgrade threads into this one.)
