I am pretty sure the plastic bags will make the sweat, hence the early ripening,we have tried it on vegies here without success..Looks like the flies are winning, most are stung, and it looks like if they are stung when the fruit is only half size the fruit shrivels up and dies....It could be the reason not many passion fruit are grown here....The neighbours had no idea what they were lol..
Will leave them on the vine to ripen and see what happens..

Just an update in case I put anyone off trying to grow passionfruit here......Most of the fruit do get stung, the ones that are stung early fall off.....The ones that get some size on them before the fly gets to them are ok....The sting doesn't penetrate all the way through to the centre of the fruit, the skin is to thick.....maybe one in fifty has had grubs in it.....

Maybe you could try wrapping them earlier while they are still small and before they get a chance to be stung. I know we use the plastic Ice Tube wrappers, but still the occasional fly finds his way in, perhaps you could try these instead?

Thought about it a few times myself, only because each time I eye off my Apple Mangoes fattening up, expecting some nice juicy RIPE Mangoes, they magically disappear overnight and Mango peels suddenly appear all around the house here over the fence... :o o:
