We're visiting Dumaguete-Siquijor in November to finally see our house that is currently under construction. I have limited time - 4 weeks - and during this time, I plan on furnishing the house with furnitures and appliances. I thought that may be the best way to do this is to contact a furniture manufacturer/retailer and appliance retailer in advance and ask for catalogs and may be pre-order, so it's there by the time we get there.

Any suggestions on how to go about this? Any recommendations for good furniture maker and appliance retailer in Dumaguete who would know how and handle shipping to Siquijor? Contact information with email address would be a big help. I am also considering taking a trip to Cebu to accomplish this major task, so any recommendations there would also help.

    I appreciate your suggestions.

I really suggest you go to Cebu (funiture capitol of the Visayas) if you care at all about quality and style...You have gone through so much to build a"home" here in the Philippines,do not ruin it with crappy furniture !
Also..since you are in Siqui, try and talk with Mike Butler, owner os Coco Grove Resort..9nice place to stay) Maybe he can steer you in a good direction as he, and his wife Honey, have great taste in decorating.

    Still in limbo

ok, so I guess Cebu is the best place to shop for furnitures and accessories. Any specific place I could go that would potentially have every (or most) furniture I need? I'm not lavish, but do care for comfort, style and durability. I just dont want to go to Cebu with no leads on where to go. I only plan to do this for a couple of days. Every place I see that has a website looks like they're all export-oriented with export prices. I've looked at some leads:

Mandaue is the area where there's a lot of the factories. Do they sell on retail? Any specific store?
Matiao Trucking is the business who can handle the shipping - is this correct? Any other suggestions?

    Thanks!

Mandaue foam is well known for good furniture.
Just google to find the nearest outlet.
Also the furnitureshop in the basement of Ayala has some nice furniture, they also take care of the shipping for a fee but not to expensive.
Also in SM there are some small furniture-stores in the basement but you can find also carpets and small fittings all over SM and even next to SM
Also downtown in the area of Gaisano south there are several furniturestores
Matiao shipping will bring your furniture direct to your doorstep but is more expensive than using the shippingcompagnie that the furniturestore is working with.

Look also for Sun Gold funiture opposite the main entrance of SM.
If you walk around the block that has Sun Gold you may even find another furniture-wholesale-store that will be very happy to sell you whatever you want.
Sun Gold has also an outlet in downtown near Gaisano south.

    I liked Sun Gold

I bought many things from them. But you need to take care trust no one when it comes to money. Being an absent T buyer sounds like you are asking for trouble.:D

    thanks for the info!

thank you so much for the tips! I will buying the pieces myself. Just a specific place to go helps a lot, instead of wasting time driving and looking around too much.

Dont bother with sm gaisano,or ayala to buy furniture in cebu. It is not that much cheaper than here in dgte. It will just be a waste of time and money when you take into the account of shipping and traveling costs. If you want custom made things for a whole household you would be better off to get it made on negros

Have your furniture made-to-order is certainly the best option but there are restrictions, the craftsman are not always that good and it may take weeks if not months before you get your furniture.
If you can agree on furniture made of chipboard you can buy it as well in Dumaguete but the choise is very limited certainly if it is made of solid wood.
