    In South Korea, more than 160 people tested positive again after they had recovered from COVID-19. In China, 5%-10% of people tested positive again after they'd recovered, according to news reports. It's not clear whether:

    • These people got infected again
    • The virus reactivated in their bodies after being quiet for a while, or
    • The test results were flawed
    So there is concern... and i would not consider this "fear porn"

    NOT FOR THE VEHEMENTLY CHRISTIAN AMONGST YOU:

    Life on earth started with micro-organisms (bacteria). One day, following multi-mutations, a viruses will wipe out most/all other species on earth, returning it to it's beginnings. Might be thousands of years from now, might be next year. The obvious flaw in this is what will the viruses live on, with no hosts, hence they would mutate to be non-fatal and non-threatening to certain hosts.
    Happy GCQ!

    Yeah, IMHO most of that is fear porn unless you verify it on WHO (really!) and/or CDC. Helps if USA Dr Fauci and Dr Brix bring it up as well (a blasphemous statement to many I know). Reporters do not handle science very well. Not very well at all. Reporters need to generate additional revenue and fear, generating readership. Simple economics, just doing their job.

    Good one; makes one stop and think and it is true that life started out smaller many billions of years ago. Somehow those lifeless organic chemicals received the right combination of “push” to start the orderly cell duplication process which overcame the more likely high-entropy process of decaying. Man cannot as yet duplicate that process but can easily clone existing life to make new lifeforms. Fundamental Christians and similar monotheistic religions hate all of that talk. It could also be that Earth was seeded by other planets in the form of space matter falling to Earth to start the process. And those lifeforms could have been started by Big Bang events that are currently unknown. But as far as a viral human apocalypse, I cannot see that happening, at least with covid, because this virus kills off only a fraction of those it infects. If the kill rate was even 99%, there would still be a small proportion of survivors, right?

    Yes, sort of, but you might want to see the article from VOX (they would call themselves very “liberal” politically), thus lending credibility to many;

    “The truth about WebMD, a hypochondriac's nightmare and Big Pharma's dream”

    A much more scientifically narrated synopsis than I could have managed. I guess the 'kill rate' would depend on the mutational capabilities of the virus. Viruses continually mutate to survive and multiply, so I would think anything is possible in time.

    Just to sober everyone up a bit, life is 100% fatal. No person alive avoids dying. As we age, statistically, our chance of dying just increases until...you're dead. How many have heard of the 101 year old lady that smoked up until the day she died? How about the 99 year old fellow that drank himself into a stupor every d*mn day until he keeled over with a smile on his face? Someone has died from everything imaginable and this COVID-19 thing is just the latest. Statistically, it doesn't even seem all that bad.

    The world order reaction to this thing has been unimaginable. Car crashes are far more deadly, as is drinking and smoking. To me, it just seems like a chance for world governments to seize back power from the rich who are quickly pulling away from their reach. What other explanation is there, that truly fits? It just isn't bad enough for this reaction.

    My belief is that this was just a virus, maybe manufactured in a lab, that was accidentally released. Maybe I am naive but I don’t believe anybody would knowingly do this, not because everybody has a conscience (psychopaths and sociopaths do not) but they would know how easy it would be to get caught and punished. Just my opinion.
