Getting a second US passport.

There might be a few members here on the forum that could benefit from having two passports. There are two reasons for getting one: political and logistical.
Political: An example would be a stamp in your passport from Israel, this can cause you problems in many Muslim middle eastern countries (straight up denied entry, told to go back where you came from and possibly being blacklisted from offended country). While Israel offers you stickers you can remove from your passport, the State Department will consider giving you a second passport if you do a lot of traveling in the region.
Logistical: If you have to turn in/mail in your passport to a country to acquire a visa but still require one for frequent travel (say you have to send your passport to a Vietnamese consulate for a visa but need to travel while waiting for it to be returned) the State Department will also consider giving you a second passport.
Previously these passports were good for 2 years, according to the link above and also my employer, but I just received my second passport and it is good for four years. Your milage may vary on this part.
The price is the same as a regular passport and you will need to provide a letter detailing your reasons for needing it. Passports can be obtained in a few days if you can find someone/a company to hand walk it in to the State Department for you. (I had a 2 day turn around on my second passport.)
Just thought I'd share in case anyone might have a need for the info.
