We brought pictures we printed out from the computer of us and copies of documents we had both signed such as prenuptial, bank accounts, etc. There is generally no problem if you submit all documents requested to Mr. Domingo. Good idea to dress decently, and he wanted my fiancé to be with me, even though the embassy instructions said it wasn't necessary.
The hassle I had was my wife initially had no identification cards and we had to start from scratch with police and barangay clearance, postal id, NSO birth certificate her mother had to request, and we had to show we lived in Dumaguete for at least 6 mos. Once the ceremony was over there is a wait period to get the marriage certificate and some running around between NSO and city hall to finalize the deal.

At the Manila embassy NONE of this is required. Most are not even asked the name of their fiance, much less have to bring her for an interrogation. The only minor hassle at Manila is the need to set an appointment online.

Wasn't much of an interrogation, just asked her if she was sure she was a virgin. lol

Rony was drilled pretty hard for about 10 minutes, but then i guess they decided she really was 24 at the time, and not 12.

Most of the problems I encountered when we got married surrounded providing the proper paperwork. In many cases, the girl will not have her Birth Certificate as it is usually not important for the parents to make the effort to provide these necessary documents to their children. It becomes really difficult if your future wife is from a different city, if she was not registered at Civil Registry at birth, if their are errors in the Form 1A (associated with the birth certificate), and if she is under 25 years old (you require written consent from the girls parents). Dumaguete may also request the the parents present themselves for interview (as they did with us). The CENOMAR (Certificate of No Marriage Record) from NSO takes time also. You also need to attend a one-day seminar prior to getting a marriage license, so you can probably count on a month or two before actually getting hitched. On your side, I am guessing you already have your birth certificate and passport, but you will probably also require a CENOMAR from NSO plus a Legal Capacity to Marry document from your Embassy (or an affadavit in lieu of certification). If you are divorced, you will also need a copy of previous marriage certificate and divorce decree (in English, of course).

Now, if you decide to get married in the Catholic Church, it gets more complicated and includes more problems like a second seminar, copies of your and her baptismal records, her Confirmation record, a letter from your home Parish stating that you have never been married in Catholic Church and you will have to suck up to Father Tulabing to have him sign the approval. Also, in the Philippines, Catholic Priests will only marry in a Church, no beach or garden weddings.

    Good luck.

In that case the girl would have to fix the paperwork issues before being issued a passport to go overseas anyway.

It took us three months from start to finish, the worst was two trips to Cebu to get cni ( certificate of no impedance) from uk consular, one trip to fill in forms and pay p 9000 and wait two weeks then collect and sign! The cni will also only last for three months. The marriage seminar was a joke, supposed to be four speakers and none turned up but this was a blessing as would have been all day and in visayan! Once this done wait another two weeks for marriage cert. Then the prob of getting a judge to marry you outside of the courts so several more trips to the halls of justice.

I agree the marriage seminar is painful to sit through, topped only by the Noreco seminar when you sign up the first time and in first place is the seminar before you can baptize your baby, as some of you enjoyed attending with me.

I got my certificate of capacity to marry at the us consol in Manila when we were married. As I recal I had copies of my divorce papers and that was it. I had to swear an oath after the drilled me on the posibility that I was being scammed. Otherwise no problems. This was almost 9 years ago.

There was lots of other paperwork needed for the philippine part of process including the mind numbing seminar. All in all it was worth the effort as I have never been happier and better cared for.

Getting the visa to bring her to the states was a whole different level of effort but still worth it. now she is dual citizen and I have the 13a permanent visa the kids are dual as well its all good.
