It might be fairly accurate because I'm out of the country right now and my scores were 2.1 mbps 1.6 mbps and 2.7 mbps.

Its not a good one as you can't pick a server or even know where the server is. Further their tests come in accurate for me most of the time. They show me as around 1Mbps or less but I get around 5-6Mbps on any other known reliable test.

If your wanting to try something besides speedtest.net I'd go with *http://www.zdnet.com/broadband-speedtest/* personally.

One catch though to remember with all speedtests especially speedtest.net is that ISP's love to cache them to an extent to make them appear faster then they really are and this is also why a speedtest at your isp's server is always BS. The other thing is many isp's especially here use a form of short term speedboost software that gives you a really fast speed on first tap but after 10-30 seconds dies off. This works great for a small download or opening webpages but doing larger downloads you see your real speed isn't what you think it is.

Look at PLDT and Globe signs and such where it says *with free speedboost*. The catch is you will only achieve your real speed most of the time when the speedboost is active for its short duration.

The "php" at the end of that link has nothing to do with the Philippines or Philippine pesos. PHP is just a scripting language. ".ph" is what would indicated something may be affiliated with the Philippines. However, nothing in a link really determines if something is located/hosted in the Philippines.

thanks for the input on speed testing,
Broadband Speed Test | ZDNet looks to be dead and unless i'm missing something, the speed test software recommended by the zdnet is outdated (December 12, 2007) but i'll keep your speed testing recommendations in mind.

Your missing something because it runs right on the page. You select home, dsl/cable, and put in your area code (6216 is Bacong *I think* and won't make a difference). Then click start and it runs just like speedtest.net
